I'm a firm believer in reading books more than once, especially those that are so phenomenal that you can't help but think of them days or weeks after you've put it down. This weekend, I decided to reread STILL LIFE WITH STRINGS by L.H. Cosway. This book is amazing and just as wonderful the second time around as it was the first.
The heroine, Jade, is written so well. Her past has a deep and heartbreaking pain but she has soldiered on through hard work and realism, beating back her demons and living the best way she can. She also has a wonderful ability to escape her reality through her imagination and the way the author writes it, is brilliant and creative!
The hero, Shane? So. Freaking. Yummy! He's sensitive, vulnerable and incredibly hot! His talent has made him a prodigy but his past is also filled with a deep pain. When he meets Jade, she breathes life into him once again and shows him how to live free, taking the mundane and making it extraordinary!
And the story... what can I say. It was a fantastic read! I posted the review below back in October 2014 when I first read this book, but it deserves another posting. Check it out and then hit the buy links so you can enjoy this unique, amazing story too! (The above picture is the new cover image, so don't be confused by my posting below. ;) )

BOOK BLURB:
My name is Jade Lennon and I stand still for money.
The night I saw Shane Arthur watching me everything changed. A man in a suit always catches my eye, but it was the way he looked at me that was different. Like he knew me or something. He didn’t know me, especially not in my costume. My sobriety rests on staying away from men, but there was something about him that made me throw caution to the wind.
After all, I was never going to see him again, right?
Wrong.
Standing still isn’t the only way I make my money. I also bartend at a concert hall. Never in my wildest dreams did I think Shane was going to show up there. Not only that, but he’s the most recent addition to the orchestra. So now on a daily basis I have to resist one of the most beautiful men I’ve ever met and he plays the violin. For me that’s one hell of a deadly cocktail.
He wants me to teach him how to live. I’m not sure how much a twenty-six year old recovering alcoholic who works in a bar and moonlights as a living statue can teach a world class concert violinist, but I’m sure going to try.
Still Life with Strings is a story of music, art, sex, magical realism, and romance that you will never forget.
5 “How Could You Not Love This” Stars!
Brilliant and Beautiful! A Breathtaking, Magical Romance to Set Your Heart Aflutter!
The Review:
Fun and compelling, this heartfelt read will make you believe in Happily Ever After. Still Live With Strings is a story about loss, love, survival, uncertainty, learning to trust again and the power of hope.
I opened the pages and was immediately transported to a world of beauty through unique character scenes, creative wording and extraordinary day-dream sequences. The hero and heroine burned the pages with their chemistry and the theme of the story was perfectly executed. I loved this read!
Story/Characters...
Jade Lennon has had a tough life. She’s basically given up her dreams to take care of her younger siblings after her mother's death but even before that, life had played a cruel hand of fate, leaving Jade on a destructive path in a dark place. But once her mother was diagnosed, she stood strong and pulled herself together. However, with those experiences littering her past, she’s a little bit sad, she’s a little bit broken and she’s a lot cynical. She doesn’t have time for love and rejects anything that might break through the carefully placed walls she’s created in order to keep from sliding backwards into that dark place.
But then in walks the sexy, kind and caring Shane Author and what was meant to be a one time encounter turns into a friendship that’s desperately struggling to be more.
Shane has a dark past of his own unhinged by betrayal of the worst kind. Only one thing got him through that painful time in his life and when he comes face to face with the real life version of his painted fantasy, he can’t help but desperately grab on with both hands. His well structured life is about to take a turn to the wild side and together, maybe Shane can teach Jade to trust again and maybe Jade and teach Shane to really live for the first time.
This story was very much a romantic, sweet, inspiring and intense read that holds both realism and fantasy side by side. It’s unique characters and their lives took me to reading euphoria that I’m still not down from. I loved the visuals I got while experiencing Jade’s daydreaming sequences. Her mind was a fantastic place to be in. She could take the ordinary and create the extraordinary. Jade was a wonderful character. She was brave with her troubled past and I loved that she found the strength to overcome and prosper. Shane was tragically lonely, hurt and a bit broken himself but striving for something better and something real. And the sexual tension and slow build between Shane and Jade was exquisite!
There was a creative, colorful cast of sub characters that carried this charming romance into a whole new stratosphere as they bedazzled with artistic events and solid shoulders to cry on.
The Wrap Up:
This friends-to-lovers read was amazing from beginning to end. With poetically written scenes that sent my imagination soaring as Jades thoughts and daydreams came to life inside my own mind, this author took me on a wondrous journey while leveling me with angsty emotions and rocking me with steamy encounters. When I finished, my heart was in the clouds with Jades blue feathers, encompassed in a dream of hope and renewal.
This book will make you believe in fate, destiny and true love. And it will help you see, HEA’s really can come true if only you're brave enough to fight for it.
