BOOK BLURB:
Lily Russell thinks she can dance at London’s prestigious Royal Ballet. She also thinks she can single-handedly bring about world peace. Her friends know she’s delusional; her former bosses think she’s unreliable. The only person who seems to believe in her is her jealous ex-lover, Jeremy, and he’s shiftless and violent and doesn’t seem to understand the concept of “ex.” That doesn’t stop her from dreaming; dreams make life an adventure. But when she meets Edmund, a boxer who seems to genuinely care for her and who steadies her thinking, she starts to realize that her ordinary life might be enough of an adventure for her.

She expects a scene when Jeremy finds out about her new boyfriend, but she never could’ve expected the shocking crime that shakes her to the core. Now the police want her for questioning. The men in her life say they want to help her but can she trust them? Soon it becomes apparent the police think she committed the crime, and, her feeble grip on reality fading fast, she’s not entirely sure she didn’t.

3.5 “Question Everything” Stars!

The Review:
I thoroughly enjoy author Gregg Bell’s writing. I enjoy the curious characters he creates and I love the unique way he has of telling a story. I always find myself completely engaged in one of his books. He adds mystery and thrills to his reads and I’m hooked from beginning to end.

In American Ballerina, I found that I was once again consumed by the story. I enjoyed the writing, like I always do, and I enjoyed the setting and exposure to the surroundings the story provides. And I even enjoyed the peculiar situations the mains found themselves in. The heroine, Lily, was unusual to say the least, which is also where I’m wavering in my review. Though I found this story interesting, I couldn’t fully connect with the heroine. And thus why I’m only giving this one three and a half stars.

Story/Characters...
Lily Russell, an American from Chicago, is living in London. She has a mundane job as a secretary and she spends a lot of her free time practicing ballet in the hopes of earning a spot in the Royal Ballet. When we first meet Lily, she seems to have herself put together but we quickly learn there’s something off about her too. She has ambitious goals but very little follow through. She’s a bit full of herself, she’s presumptuous, she seems frivolous and sometimes impractical.

Lily soon meets Edmund and a quick relationship forms, but even with the prospect of something good, Lily’s paranoia gets the best of her.

As the story progresses, you can’t help but question Lily’s mental state. She herself admits to living in a fantasy world and sometimes has difficulty distinguishing reality from her fantasy. She gets herself into a series of serious situations and she lies to those she cares about.

Her well-being deteriorates quickly as does her reality. I couldn’t keep up with everything she was doing because the majority of it made no sense at all. However, I could feel how unsorted she was and that is accredited to the talented writing of the author.

But I guess my biggest gripe and also my biggest rave, is that I myself, couldn’t tell what was real and what was the workings of a troubled mind. I both disconnected from that and loved it. I loved the not knowing. I enjoyed trying to decipher the “hidden” in this story but I’m also left wondering what the point of it all was. With the ending we got, there was no real resolution to Lily’s journey for the reader. I’m sure things happened after the story ended because there was a certain path laid out, but I would have liked to have seen a real ending that didn’t leave me questioning everything.

The Wrap Up:
As I said before, I enjoy the distinct, individual traits of each character this author creates in his stories. This one was filled with just those kinds of characters. Everyone we met, I found myself scrutinizing carefully to make sure they were who we thought they were. I loved the mystery behind it all. I couldn’t really connect with Lily and I had a hard time sympathizing with her because I didn’t fully like her, but I did love the vivid palette of additional characters the author gives us to cement her world building and couldn't help but turn the pages to find out what would happen next. As for the ending, it left a lot more unresolved than I would have liked, but all in all, I still enjoyed this outlandish, thrilling story. It’s definitely worth a read.

AUTHOR: JA Huss
AGE GROUP: Adult
GENRE: Dark Erotic Suspense
RELEASE DATE: January 18, 2017
PUBLISHER: Science Future Press
PAGES: Approx. 337
RELEASE COORDINATED BY:
Xpresso Book Tours

BOOK BLURB:
Chella plays the game of Taking Turns with three men as she comes to terms with her sexuality.

I’ve never been afraid of the dark...but that doesn’t mean I wanted to live in it. And maybe everyone wants what they can’t have, but I should’ve thought it over before I accepted the key and unlocked the door to their forbidden world.

Number One is mostly silent. He watches me with them very carefully. His gaze never wanders. His interest never wanes.

Number Two is mostly gentle. But it’s the other side of him I like best. The wild side.

Number Three is mostly reserved. He refuses to cross the line. Even when I beg.

It was carnal, it was sensual, and it was erotic. That’s it. That’s all it was supposed to be. A trip into the dark. A peek into the forbidden.

I just didn’t expect to like them.

TAKING TURNS EXCERPT

QUIN:

“You want it hard tonight?” I ask. “You want me to fuck you hard?” I grab her hair and pull, making her upper body lift up off the mattress. My other hand is digging into the flesh just below her hip.

I scoot back and reach under her thighs, drawing them up so she’s on her knees, and press her face into the pillow as I pound her from behind.

“Yeah,” I say, half speaking, half moaning. “You like it like this, don’t you? You let Bric fuck you like this all the time, don’t you?”

I reach around and smack her tit, which makes her yelp. A high-pitched yelp I’m not familiar with. For a second I think I’ve hurt her, and I slow down. But she backs up into me, covering my dick again. Burying it deep inside her. Everything is already so wet. She feels so goddamned good tonight.

“You fucking whore,” I say, letting go of her hair so she falls face-first back into the pillow. “You let Bric fuck you like this, Rochelle? You like the way he slaps you around? Hmm?”

Hell, I like the way Bric slaps her around. And as soon as that thought enters my head I laugh.

“Maybe we’ll do it rough next weekend. You want that? You want us to fuck you hard? Stick our dicks inside you at the same time?”

Another unfamiliar moan.

“I’ll take that as a yes,” I say, still kinda laughing. But then I let it go and just… fuck her. I grab onto her ass and do it hard. Pounding her with so much force, her head is inching closer and closer to the headboard of the bed.

I don’t stop when it finally makes it there. I just keep thrusting until the pounding is compounded by the headboard crashing into the wall.

She’s moaning. Close. So fucking close to coming. I reach underneath her body and strum her clit to the rhythm we’re making. She goes wild. Wild like I’ve never seen her before. Writhing, and moaning, and gasping for air.

I draw back, grab her hips, and flip her over, one hand pushing her head aside so her cheek is pressing into the pillow, the other one still playing with her pussy. I watch my dick as it slips in and out, just barely able to make it out in the dim, filtered light from outside.

I grab her hair, so fucking ready to come, and yank her head so she has to look at me. Her eyes are closed, but I don’t care. I press my hand over her mouth and close my eyes too. And then I spill inside her. Throwing my head back to let out a groan of relief.

Her legs are trembling from the exertion. Little spasms as she gasps for breath. I laugh a little as I roll off to the side and wrap my arms around her.

“What’s wrong, baby? Too much for you tonight?”

No answer.

I bury my head into her neck and smell her hair.

“Did you get a new shampoo?” I ask. “You smell so different.”

No answer.

“You want a date with Bric on Sunday? Hmm? We can skip Smith if you want.” I kiss her neck and then pull back and open my eyes. Trying to get an idea if she’s up for this kind of fun. It’s been a while so I—
I blink my eyes. Three times, fast.

“Rochelle—”

“I’m sorry,” she says. “I’m sorry—”

But I’m up and out of the bed, fisting her hair and pulling her with me. She drops to the floor, whimpering.

“I’m sorry,” she says again.

“Who the fuck are you?” I ask. “Where the fuck is Rochelle?”

“I’m sorry,” she says. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry.”

TURNING BACK
The Turning Series
By JA Huss
Publishes April 12, 2017

DESCRIPTION:
I lived in the dark for three years. My whole world revolved around the whims and happiness of three men. It was just a trip into the forbidden. A way out of a bad situation and forward into nothingness.

Quin, with his easy smile and charming good looks. He was always there for me... Until he wasn’t.

Smith, and his dispassionate attention. He was never there for me and he never regretted it.

Bric, the one who listened, but only to himself. Self-absorbed, self-obsessed, and self-serving. He was never the one I wanted.

And now he might be the only one I have left.

It was good while it lasted, I guess. But it could’ve been so much more. It could’ve been so much better.

And that’s why I’m turning back.

BOOK BLURB:
The night I met Drew Jagger, he’d just broken into my new Park Avenue office.

I dialed 9-1-1 before proceeding to attack him with my fancy new Krav Maga skills.

He quickly restrained me, then chuckled, finding my attempted assault amusing.

Of course, my intruder had to be arrogant.
Only, turned out, he wasn’t an intruder at all.

Drew was the rightful occupant of my new office. He’d been on vacation while his posh space was renovated.

Which was how a scammer got away with leasing me office space that wasn’t really available for rent.

I was swindled out of ten grand.

The next day, after hours at the police station, Drew took pity on me and made me an offer I couldn’t refuse. In exchange for answering his phones while his secretary was out, he’d let me stay until I found a new place.

I probably should have acted grateful and kept my mouth shut when I overheard the advice he was spewing to his clients. But I couldn’t help giving him a piece of my mind.

I never expected my body to react every time we argued. Especially when that was all we seemed to be able to do.

The two of us were complete opposites. Drew was a bitter, angry, gorgeous-as-all-hell, destroyer of relationships. And my job was to help people save their marriages.

The only thing the two of us had in common was the space we were sharing.

And an attraction that was getting harder to deny by the day.

5 “Egomaniac” Stars!
Witty, fun, sexy, sweet and truly romantic! I couldn’t get enough of this one!

The Review:
I’m a huge fan of Vi Keeland but I truly think this is her best work yet! I loved everything about this read. From the moment this book opens, you know you’re in for a delightfully fun and sexy read as the two mains meet in the most unexpected of ways, leaving you loving this story well after you’ve hit the last page.

Story/Characters...
Drew M. Jagger is a New York lawyer who has just come back from vacation, only to find his newly renovated office mistakenly occupied by a fiery redhead who instantly draws him in. Normally he’s a screw ‘em and leave ‘em kind of guy, but for some reason he can’t explain, he can’t seem to let Emerie leave.

Emerie Rose has just moved from Oklahoma, following her best friend and a man who she has secretly had feelings for since college, to New York. Thinking she got a great deal on office space, she’s completely thrown off balance when the hottest of all landlords shows up and claims she’s been swindled by a con man.

Right from the start, these two embark on a lively comedic encounter, to be followed by some brilliantly written moments that start them off on a journey that’s sure to cause these two opposites to clash.

I was instantly taken with Emerie. She was down to earth, realistic and full of light. And when her heart was invested, she was all in, never wavering back and forth. She was so cute and just a perfect match for our hero.

Drew was crass, brash and seriously sexy. YUUUMMMY! And though he played himself off as a player, he was the epitome of “bad boy with a heart of gold” because his situation and his past totally brought the “feels”, yet he was lovable and funny and full of life.

This book was filled with intelligent, playful and spicy banter, infused with heartfelt moments that delivered a sweet romance between two completely different types of characters. Drew was a divorce attorney jilted by love. Emerie was a marriage counselor who believes love can conquer all. Their strong chemistry is undeniable and together, these two wade through a riveting story you couldn’t help but connect with, while swooning, laughing and feeling those delicious chest pangs all at the same time!

The Wrap Up:
I honestly didn’t want this read to end. I loved all those little sweet moments between Emerie and Drew. They stole my heart and left me wanting more. If you only read one romance this year, it HAS to be this one!
