The Review:

The Baller is an AMAZING feel good romance with fun, flirty, naughty banter, lots of laugh out loud and swoon-worthy scenes and amazing dialogue with some truly wonderful character moments who have outstanding chemistry. Throwing in a slight bit of angsts and this read rounds out to being a perfect way to spend the day!

Brody is something special. Sure, he’s cocky and maybe a little bit full of himself, but every action he takes from the moment we meet him shows us the loyal, caring, lovable man behind the mask. He’s more than an athlete or a hot body with a pretty face. He’s amazing and he displays that in the way he cares for the people around him. Like all well rounded characters, he’s got a past and there’s pain involved but it hasn’t stopped him from living.

Delilah was a fantastic heroine. She gave as good as she got when Brody threw down the towel... err... gauntlet and decided to spice things up with a playful attitude during their time together. Like Brody, she has a past and a pain that’s cut her deep. But unlike Brody, she’s put her life on hold without realizing it. Brody coming into her life had her realizing just how stuck she was. Her snark and playfulness were a perfect mix to her maturity. And when things got tense, she had a lot of growing to do but she was open to it and didn’t cause drama.

That’s one of the huge things I loved so much about this book. Yes, there was some angsts but there was no senseless drama just to cause a reaction from the characters or the readers. It was a simple, sweet, well played romance that had my heart leaping and my focus solely on getting to the finish line. I didn’t want to put this book down and even when I was forced to because of real life, I was constantly thinking about it. It’s been a long time since a book has grabbed and held me so completely.

Without giving too much away, the author does throw in some surprises, a red herring and a third POV that I wasn’t to sure about in the beginning but turned out to be a great addition. And there was a beautiful slow build between the mains as they connected with one another. So many times, the mains just meet, have sex, fall in love and boom, that’s the end. This book has some great “get to know you” moments that were a delight to read.

In short, I absolutely loved this one. I’m a big fan of this author but I have to say, this is probably my favorite read by her so far!
