The Review:
I liked the first book, Leo a lot, but this book? Totally blew my mind! It was beautifully written with detailed thoughts from Leo’s POV about his past and the things that happened to him. It was a perfect companion with extra scenes and a fantastic conclusion to all those burning character questions from the first book. Everything was elegantly wrapped up, leaving me swooning and with a huge grin plastered across my face as these two character truly found their HEA.
Characters/Story...
This read wasn’t just a repeat of book one from Leo’s POV. It had heartbreaking flashbacks of Leo’s time in the hospital after his accident in the form of doctor/patient sessions as he hashes out all the grueling turmoils of his sordid past and works through the guilt and pain.
In book one, because it’s told from Evie’s POV, there were times when you feel Jake is hiding more than a painful past. There are moments where you question his loyalty to Evie, his reasons for doing things, and its hard to discern lies from truth. In this read, there is in-depth, emotional introspecting, reactions and reveals of his thoughts and feelings for Evie, leaving absolutely no doubt Evie was always the one for him.
Jake was a layered, complicated character who carried the weight of his past in the form of guilt and self blame, heavy on his shoulders. He was deceitful and wrapped himself in lies but it was his fear of rejection and his fear to lose the small amount of self worth he’d regained, that kept him repeating his mistakes. And when all is revealed, you understand him and admire what it must have taken for him to push forward and continue to survive. I loved his character.
Evie was just as beautiful and spirited in this read as she was in the first and seeing her through Leo’s eyes, made you realized just how unique and special these two were.
And again, the sex scenes were scorching hot! Having them infused with Leo’s feelings and thoughts only made them more sexier and swoon-worthy!
The Wrap Up:
I can’t rave enough about this author. Her extraordinary way of telling stories will definitely win you over and keep you desperate for more. I wish I experienced the feelings in all books that I get from hers. Yeah, I’m definitely a fan!
