Book Blurb:
With no recollection of the last three years of his life, Zach Harris finds himself stumbling back down the rabbit hole when his new friend Feebs takes him searching for answers. The only clues: a mysterious bank deposit of a half-million pounds and Zach’s branded-black tattoo of a raven. Their quest for the truth will lead them to the seediest parts of London, and Zach will have to face the unspeakable truth of a past better off forgotten.

A short story from V.M.K. Fewings’ beloved Stone Master’s series, “Mortal Veil” features familiar characters in the always-sexy Belshazzar’s night club, favorite hangout of England’s most wicked vampires. Fewings brings vampire fiction back to its Anne Rice roots with dark deeds and delicious monsters.
Note: Mortal Veil can be read at any point in the series.

The Review:

This 32 page novella allows the reader a very small glimpse into the world the author has created.

Zach, a college student studying art, has lost his memory from the last three years. When this story opens up, he’s at a bank trying to discover why his checking account now has a large influx of unaccounted for money. Without any helpful answers, he heads back to college and to class. While listening to his professor, he feel someone watching him and when he turns, he’s shocked to find the eyes of a beautiful stranger staring back at him.

With no recollection of the last three years, he’s just trying to fit himself back into his old life but the past is ever haunting. With the help of the mysterious girl and an ambiguous Raven tattoo, Zach reconnects with his forgotten past but finds it to be filled with more secrets and danger than he ever thought possible.

The Wrap Up:
This delightful little read helps introduce characters, specifically Orpheus, who is the main in the next book, Orpheus: A Vampire's Rise (The Stone Masters Vampire #1) which I'm about to delve into (the Erotic Edition!). I'm excited about this series and if the other books are anything like this small taste, then I'm in for one heck of a treat!
