BOOK BLURB:
Terminated for inappropriate behavior.
I couldn’t believe the letter in my hands.
Nine years. Nine damn years I’d worked my butt off for one of the largest companies in America, and I was fired with a form letter when I returned home from a week in Aruba.
All because of a video taken when I was on vacation with my friends—a private video made on my private time. Or so I thought…
Pissed off, I cracked open a bottle of wine and wrote my own letter to the gazillionaire CEO telling him what I thought of his company and its practices.
I didn’t think he’d actually respond.
I certainly never thought I’d suddenly become pen pals with the rich jerk.
Eventually, he realized I’d been wronged and made sure I got my job back.
Only…it wasn’t the only thing Grant Lexington wanted to do for me.
But there was no way I was getting involved with my boss’s boss’s boss. Even if he was ridiculously gorgeous, confident, and charming.
It would be completely wrong, inappropriate even.
Sort of like the video that got me into trouble to begin with.
Two wrongs don’t make a right.
But sometimes it’s twice as fun.

The Review:
I enjoyed this book. Inappropriate had great characters with fun, quick-witted, sexy banter. The romance was sweet and Grant had a lot of self-reflection he needed to do in order to move forward. But I felt like there was something missing, too.
Ireland has been wrongly fired from her job. On a drunken tirade, she emails the CEO and lets him know just what she thinks. Instead of getting angry about the email, Grant Lexington decides to investigate, which leads to a very interesting and fun meet-greet. But, he’s not looking for more than a fling. She’s got white picket fences and children in her future.
It wasn’t supposed to ever work between them...
Grant’s backstory was eyeopening and heartbreaking. He had a childhood romance that went very wrong. Honestly, I was more interested in the history between Grant and Lily than I was in the current romance between Grant and Ireland. Though they had decent chemistry with amazing banter, they just didn’t have a whole lot going on in their story. I felt the author spent a lot of time explaining Grant’s past relationship. I was invested in what happened with Lily. The author did a great job with the emotions and telling of her downward spiral with mental illness.
The romance between Grant and Ireland was interesting, but as I stated, there wasn’t a whole lot going on. They had a few get-to-know-you moments and a couple of hot sexy times, but I felt like there could have been more. I also wanted to know more about Ireland’s past. She had a tragic tale that would have definitely left scars, but we got a couple of bylines about it and that was it. We got a conclusion to Grant’s past, but nothing to Ireland’s past. Where is her family? We don’t see them once.
Without giving too much away, this one also had some cliched tropes in it that I think would have been better left out. I think the author was going for a full-circle moment, but we could have gotten an epilogue with those things in it and been just fine.
I’m a fan of this author, and overall, I liked this one well enough. But it wasn’t Vi Keeland’s best book in my opinion. As always, she has a great way of writing, but the romance story itself in this one just didn’t give me the feels I wanted or am used to from this author... but it was definitely worth a read.
