RATING: 4 Stars!
CLIFFHANGER: No.
BOOK BLURB:
It started out like any normal day.
Then the fender bender happened.
The guy I collided with drove an expensive car and was drop-dead gorgeous. Too bad he was also a total jerk. We argued over whose fault it was and any other thing that came out of his condescending mouth.
Eventually, the police came and we went our separate ways. The insurance companies would have to figure things out. I had a job interview to get to anyway—one I was excited about.
Though that excitement changed to disappointment the moment the person interviewing me walked in. The guy from the accident.
Whoops!
Yeah, so I didn’t get the position.
The problem was, I really wanted it. No, I needed it. Anything to get me out of my current career and back into working with kids.
So, even though Hollis LaCroix was as intimidating as he was devastatingly handsome, I went back to see him and begged for a chance.
To my surprise, he gave me a shot taking care of his troubled niece.
At least my attraction to him wouldn’t be able to go anywhere. I wasn’t about to jeopardize my job or the strong bond Hailey and I formed.
But resisting the magnetic pull between us wasn’t that simple. (Then there was our little underwear game—don’t ask.)
We continued to flirt without crossing the line—until it finally happened.
This is the part of the story where we fall in love and live happily ever after, right?
Well, life has a way of throwing some major curveballs.
Ours was one I didn’t see coming.

The Review:
This book.... was just full of surprises. In a good way. Without giving to much away, I will say that as much as I enjoyed it and couldn’t get enough of it, there were some parts that were hard to get on board with. It made me think. It made me question things and made me wonder how I would have reacted if I were in the character's situations.
I loved it! But I questioned it.
Here’s why...
Hollis LaCroix and Elodie Atlier meet in a fun meet/greet when they have a fender bender and both try to blame the other one for the accident. As it turns out, Elodie is one of the applicants Hollis was supposed to interview to care for his niece. I loved this introduction. Right off, you can tell the interest is there, but Hollis is the scorned player who has no interest in romantic entanglements and Elodie is the spunky, charismatic heroine who challenges everything he thought he knew or wanted.
The story was great. The characters easy to fall for. And as these authors always do, they give us drama, romance, a push-pull that will give you all the feels, sexy and hot chemistry, intrigue and ... a bit of a twist. Park Avenue Player had all that and more. I really enjoyed this read.
Now here’s the “but”... But I also found parts of it hard to understand. I’m the kind of reader who likes my romances to have hardships and drama and stubborn heroes and heroines who delve into the lust but try really hard to resist the pull to love.. BUT, at the end of it all, I want that distinct and clear path to the falling in love parts and the happily ever after parts. I don’t want past relationships to hinder what the future holds. Or to linger and fill holes that might be left from broken hearts or misunderstandings. I know. That’s not reality and real life is messy and complicated. This book sits firmly in the messy and complicated section. Which is good, but it left a weird feeling behind when I was done. I enjoyed the twist, but the twist and the feelings surrounding it by the main characters were hard for me to let go of.
As for the story itself, there’s an ex, childhood flashbacks, unexpected entanglements, a cranky bird, a charming and amusing niece and great, supporting sub-characters.
This book is totally worth reading, especially if you are a fan of these authors. They always give us creative, fun and exciting stories with a wonderful romance. This one is definitely one of those kinds of reads. As I said, it left me questioning a lot of things, but isn’t that what a good book does? Leaves you thinking about it long after you’ve finished it?
