RELEASED: October 6, 2018

BOOK BLURB:
An Orphan Girl. A Group of Wolves. A Destined Fate for War.

Don’t you ever wish to find where you belong? A place where you can rest your head without worrying about being jumped or your possessions being taken from you? Not like I had much, to say the least.

A pendant, an ancient blade, and a picture of my murdered family were all I had left when I was five years old. Foster homes to homeless shelters, I never found a place of refuge. I simply didn’t belong, and everyone made it their duty to remind me of my predicament. Until I finally came across a place that felt like home.

Sacred Moon Shelter for Endangered Wolves. I’d stumbled upon the sanctuary when I was near death, but I was miraculously saved.

Since then, I’ve become a Wolf Tamer; the only one who can get close to touching the six rare breeds. When I’m with them, I feel safe and sometimes wish I could be like one of them and escape this cruel world.

But such inhumanity strikes home, a group of hunters shows up, ready to take my wolves to an unknown place or murder them in cold blood. I won’t allow them to kill the only true family I’d ever known.

My name is Harper Blake, and I vow to claim and protect my own.

Wolf Tamer is a new Wolf Shifter Reverse Harem Romance. Recommended for 18+ Audiences.

REVIEWER NOTES: I received an eCopy from the author in exchange for an honest review.

3.5 Stars!

The Review:
Overall, this was an enjoyable read. It had a few problem areas but I liked the characters, the story and felt it was a good start to what I believe will be a great series! I’m looking forward to reading more from this author and more in this shifter-verse.

Story/Characters...
Harper Blake was five when her family was murdered. Running from the gunmen through the woods and severely injured, she’s found by Wolfie, a young wolf who feels the need to protect this girl he has an instant connection with. After taking her back to his home, his family takes her in and soon, Harper realizes that the wolf that saved her in the woods is now her new best friend, Ian Chestwood ... and he’s a shifter!

I really enjoyed the cast of characters the author gives us. Dolly and Sam, who run the Sacred Moon Shelter for Endangered Wolves, took in Ian - who is the only one of his kind - and then Harper when they had no one. As Harper gets to know the pack Sam and Dolly care for, you understand right away that there’s something special about those wolves and it was fun getting to see each wolf and their different characteristics.

As much as I enjoyed the story, I questioned how Harper could be so clueless about her surroundings and who her new buddies were. She was a bit weak-willed and not as much of a badass as I’d hoped for, especially given this is a PNR/shifter/urban fantasy with a reverse harem. I expected a bit more after reading the blurb, but maybe that will come in the next book.

I really enjoyed getting the perspectives from her childhood to adulthood. I thought the author gave her a strong voice in both and her scenes were full of emotion and a good story.

There wasn’t a lot of action, but maybe that’s because there was so much story to cover. I also wished we’d gotten to know the “shifters” in their human form more. It was sometimes hard to get a read on them and connect with them while in wolf form. They didn’t make a lot of appearances on two legs and given that they wanted Harper and needed her, I’d liked to have gotten more from that perspective. But I did enjoy their dynamics. They were protective of a young Harper and enthralled with an adult Harper. That was fun!

Ian and Harper's childhood budding relationship was sweet and well told. Their adult relationship was sexy and tension-filled, just the way I like it. There was even a bit of love angsts thrown in, which is always a winner with me! I enjoyed Ian’s character a lot. He was kind and caring and also alpha and demanding. He knew what he wanted and his bond with Harper was believable and strong.

I do wish there had been more world building. More of why the wolves were the way they were - like how they looked - more about their society and their rarity and how the world perceived them. There just wasn’t enough explanations to satisfy me. I had too many questions at the end.

The Wrap Up:
Overall, I liked this book a lot. It had some areas that needed work but I’m really looking forward to continuing the story in book two. The writing was solid and imaginative.

Wolf Tamer was a great start to what I think will be a great series.
