1. Don’t call your hot boss the antichrist to his face.
2. Don’t stare at hot boss’s, um, package or his full sleeve of tattoos. (No. Really. Stop!)
3. Don’t get on the malicious first assistant’s bad side.
4. Don’t forget to memorize the 300-page employee manual.
5. If you value your cashmere, steer clear of boss’s dog.
6. Boss’s dimples are lust-inducing. Do. Not. Give. In.
7. “The elevator ate your clothes” is not a valid excuse for showing up to important meetings half dressed.
8. Don’t break seven of the rules within the first week of employment if you, ya know, are in dire need of money to support your sick mom.
9. Whatever you do, don’t fall for the boss. See rule eight about sick mom.
10. Never forget the rules.

AUTHOR Q&A!
We asked Jennifer to answer a few questions about herself and her book. Here's what she had to say...
Q: What is you a typical day in the Life of Jennifer Blackwood look like?
A: 6:00 a.m.: Wake up with toddler
6:15-1:00 p.m.: Wrangle toddler
1:00- 2:00: NAP TIME—time to write!
2:00-4:30: More wrangling
4:30-7ish: Precious writing time
7:00-10:00: Time with fam
Q: What inspired you to write The Rule Book?
A: This book idea came to me when I was at a writing conference last year. I was brainstorming with my editor and we were discussing favorite movies. Mine happens to be The Devil Wears Prada, and just talking about it spawned the idea of The Rule Book.
Q: List (5) things you’ll never do again.
A: Lay out in the sun without sunscreen
Buy sparkly Play-Doh
Eat any pre-made perishable food from a gas station
Cut my own hair
Buy bacon flavored chips
Q: If you could be any age again for a week, which would you choose?
A: I would be 22 again and enjoy being carefree. All I had to worry about at that time was getting good grades and what party to attend on a Friday night.
Q: Where do you get your ideas?
A: From everywhere. I am very much into people watching. I will write at the library or a coffee shop and watch my surroundings.
Q: How did you come up with this book’s title?
A: The rules from the Starr Media employee manual play an integral part in the book, so I thought It was only fitting to name the book after this.
Q: What was your favorite chapter (or part) to write and why?
A: My favorite chapter to write was when Lainey got her sweater stuck in the elevator. I was laughing while writing it!
Q: What project are you working on now?
A: I am currently in copy edits for my upcoming Brazen, Landing the Air Marshal, and drafting book two of The Rule Breakers series.
Q: Is there anything that you would like to say to your readers and fans?
A: I am so appreciative of every email, review, or interaction I have with readers. It’s the best part about being an author!
Q: Is anything in your book based on real life experiences or purely all imagination?
A: I happen to be a really loud chewer…one of my downfalls. My mom is always giving me a hard time if I eat when I’m on the phone with her. I added that into my story :-) Everything else is just purely my imagination at work!
