The Review:
Lawless was a fantastic read, filled with gritty, dark, sexy energy. I love this author’s writing and her talent for pulling you into her world and keeping you until the bittersweet end always has me coming back for more.
In this book, we get Bear’s story. We know him from the first two books in this series, having been introduced to him in King (bk1) and knowing what he went through in Tyrant (bk2) had me salivating to get to his story.
Told in alternating POV’s, Bear and Thia take us on an thrilling ride of murder and mayhem. When Thia’s proper life literally implodes, she runs to Bear for help, invoking a years old promise that he made to her in passing, with him having no real intention of keeping that promise.
However, when Thia desperately storms the Beach Bastards MC compound to collect on that promise, she’s thrown into a world of even more torment and chaos. Now she’s running from her past, the law and the MC and it seems that Bear, who’s drowning in his own life troubles, is her only lifeline.
I loved seeing Bear again and I loved that we got that past connection between Bear and Thia. Bear has always intrigued me and the author did a great job exploring just how messed up he was after all he’s endured. His vulnerability and his hopelessness are exhibited in an endless parade of women, booze and drugs. When we see him again, he’s all but given up and after what he went through, it’s no wonder. But Thia comes along and changes the game. Her need of his help gives him purpose again, even though he’s trying to deny any and all connection and feelings for and to her.
There was a real struggle between these two because Thia, although accepting of Bear’s life and his crude manners, also has some serious conflict in her own life. These two are living very close to the edge of a cliff and the slightest breeze could tip them either way. The author did an incredible job showing how much trouble these two were really in and it was easy to connect to their lives, even as outrageous as it was.
I loved Bear and Thia together. They were sexy and passionate and Bear’s protectiveness was swoon-worthy. Bear’s dirty talk could keep me entertained all night. That man is yummy!
And as much as I loved them and their lust filled connection, I also wished we’d gotten more days like the one “normal” day they tried to have. It was brief but sweet and I got to see a different, carefree side to both of them that was just a glimpse into a deeper connection. I would have also liked to have gotten more background on both Bear and Thia. They were fascinating to me and I couldn’t help but want more of them.
There’s plenty of King and Doe/Ray to satisfy the fans of the first two books as we get little glimpses into their lives and the author gave us some much needed levity with fun moments from Preppy as he makes a small comeback to the pages.
There’s also plenty of action in this one as well. Bear is true to his outlaw ways and shows that a number of times when confronted by his enemies. Bear showed his courage and his heart in the things he did, and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for both of these two because the way Lawless left off on that major cliffy, I know their troubles have just begun!
And hang onto your seats because just when the story ends, the author gives us one hell of a teaser into the next book, Soulless! That short sneak peak gave me freaking chills! Waiting is going to be such agonizing torture.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR...
She attended Florida Gulf Coast University where she specialized in public speaking. After years working in real estate and new home construction, she decided it was finally time to stop pushing her dreams to the back burner and pursue writing seriously.
In the third grade she wrote her very first story about a lost hamster. It earned rave reviews from both her teacher and her parents.
