Books I'm Grateful I Read!
Giveaway Hop
hosted by Stuck In Book!
For this hop, we're supposed to feature a book or books we're grateful we've read, something that has touched our lives in some way. Holding a book in my hand before I could even read or walk, I've read thousands of books since I first picked one up and picking one or even a hundred that has touched my life in some way would be an epic feat I know I couldn't accomplish. But there are a select few that have meant more to me that others and for that I've decided to list a top 20 with 5 (or series) in each of my favorite genres.
Make sure to enter my giveaway listed below and visit all the other blogs on the Linky listed at the bottom of this post for other great prizes!
TOP 20 BOOKS / SERIES PICKS
My Top Picks for the Mature YA-leading-into-NA Genre are...
Bully and Until You by Penelope Douglas - These books are told in her and his POV's and were just phenomenal reads with lots of angsts! The first book will blow your mind and have you hating the hero, Jared but once you read book two, told from his POV, I promise, you'll love him! I certainly did.
Reason to Breathe by Rebecca Donovan was AMAZING! The whole series is, but that first book was just... ugg! I can't even explain what it did to me. It was a fantastic read.
Oh my. How do I explain all the wonderfulness that is Hopeless by Colleen Hoover? Me and my best bud fight over who gets to keep the hero, Dean Holder! The second book in this two part story is told from Dean's POV and it's called Losing Hope. I should have added it to the images because it's probably one of the BEST his POV's I've ever read. So, so good!
Ten Tiny Breaths by K.A Tucker and The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay will change you forever. Those two reads stole my heart, for different reasons. Great reads!
The Crush series by Nicole Williams started the whole New Adult genre for me and still to this day, I love, love that series. All three books are fantastic but the first book has stuck with me and the hero Jude Ryder was and still is my all time best book boyfriend... just because he was my first ;)
Easy by Tammara Webber has the handsome, soul-breaking Lucas as the hero and what a character! This book... it's another me and my best bud fight over who gets to keep the hero. You HAVE to read this one if you haven't. So, so good. You won't be disappointed. (P.S. This book also has a "his" POV titled Breakable which was really good too!)
OMG, Archer's Voice by Mia Sheridan... Made. Me. Do. The. Ugly. Cry!!! No lie. I was broken for about thirty minutes, unable to go on with the read. I had to leave my ereader behind while I drink copious amounts of wine and then finally, many many glasses of wine later... I felt like I could go back and finish the story. This author has some serious talent. Archer's Voice was my first by her but as soon as I was done, I purchased all her other books and devoured them in two days.
Rock Me by Cherrie Lynn introduced me to the ... wait for it... Apadravya! I was never the same again! Oh, and DO NOT look that word up if you are under age ;)
Wait For You by Jennifer L. Armentrout broke my heart, fixed me and gave me a happy ending. Then she went and gave me a his POV (Trust In Me) which totally blew my mind. I adore this authors writing.
The Hollows series by Kim Harrison needs no explanation. I LOVE that entire series. It has so many ups and down and so much creative world building, you can't help but love it. This past September, the last book in the series was published. I'll miss it but I'm so happy I was introduced to it.
The Cassandra Palmer Series by Karen Chance is PHENOMENAL! It's different and the writing is kind of "big" but I love this entire series. Her world building is insanely good. And I can't decide if I'm Team Pritkin who is the toughest, hottest, most tortured war mage you'll ever meet or if I'm Team Mercia who is the the sexiest, most manipulative vamp you'll ever meet!
The entire Cal Leandros series by Rob Thurman is amazing! But Nightlife started it all for me so it desevers it's own spot.
Another series I really enjoy is The Black Son's Daughter series from M.L.N. Hanover. Killing Rites was book 4 in the series and really amped things up!
And of course I love The Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R. Ward but Dark Lover started it all for me, so it holds a special place on my list!
And I can't end this top 20 List without talking about one of my all time favorite genre! I love all things Adult, Dark and Erotic and these are just a few of my top favs!
And before you start hating on me, I love the Fifty's books. It didn't put me in this genre's path but it did lead me to Goodreads where I met a TON of wonderful people in the blogging, reading and author community. And I've met some of my most favorite people there so I'll never have a hate-on for these books. Not to mention, I heart Christian Grey... big time!
The Monsters In The Dark series by Pepper Winters was so intense, disturbing and angsty and it made my insides burn! You'll both love and hate Q! Anything by this author is an instant one-click.
The Dark Duet by C.J. Roberts!!! BEST BOOKS EVER! It's dark, it's wrong and so so right all at the same time. You'll hate to love Caleb!
The Crossfire series by Sylvia Day... BRILLIANT series! And a must read! You'll love Gideon in all his eff'ed-up'ed-ness!
And the Enthrall Sessions series by Vanessa Fewings is one of those reads you just can't put down once you've started it. I introduced it to a few of my reading buddies and they've all loved it. Cameron Cole? SUPER YUMMY! ;)
And that's my top 20. It's certainly not all the books I love, but it's a good start. Now for the good stuff.
My giveaway for this hop will be for (2) TWO WINNERS, each getting to choose one of the ebooks on Top 20 List above PLUS a $10.00 Amazon or B&N Gift Cards. Awesome right?? Make sure to check out the other giveaways from the Linky below for more chances to win! (OPEN INTERNATIONALLY!)

DeleteGreat choices. Couldn't agree more on The Hollows, Cassandra Palmer (Dorina is a must as well) and Black Dagger Brotherhood.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy the Dorina Basarab series also, though I haven't read the last one, Fury's Kiss, yet. Though Cassie has remained my favorite of her heroines, Dory kicks some serious ass and she's so much fun to read! Thanks for stopping by and good luck in the giveaway Trudy!
DeleteI haven't read any of these...Man I need to speed up my reading! I think I've got Black Dagger Brotherhood taking up space on my holds list from the library, though :)
ReplyDeleteLol! I wish I could read in my sleep, then I could get even more great books in ;) The BDB is really good. The first book, though I listed it on my list, isn't the best of the series, but it does open the door for all the other books and they are HOT and FUN! Thanks for commenting and good luck in the giveaway! ;)
DeleteI have read Jennifer Armentrout's book.
ReplyDeleteI think you would also like the Keaton Series by B.A. Wolfe.
I have J.R. Ward books but have not had time to do them justice.
I am glad you found Goodreads. I am there daily.
I've heard of the Keaton Series but I haven't read it. In fact, I just read the blurb for AWAY since reading your post and loved the sound of it, so I've one clicked it from Amazon :D Thanks for the suggestion. I seriously need to read the books on your list they look like awesome reads.
ReplyDeleteKim Harrison's books are amazing! I would definitely start with the first one first, so as to not get spoiled. Every Which Way But Dead is one of my favorites from the series. Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Good luck in the giveaway!

DeleteI've read the Hollows series by Kim Harrison. Thank you for the giveaway :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE Kim Harrison. You can't go wrong with that series. Thanks for stopping by Kristia and good luck :)
DeleteI've read Hopeless, Bully, Ten Tiny Breaths, and Easy. I loved all of them, but Bully and Ten Tiny Breaths were definitely my favorites and both in my top ten of 2014. I seriously need to read both In Her Wake and Until You. I just don't know if I'm emotionally ready after the buckets full of tears I cried and the heart-wrenching angst that accompanied the first books.
ReplyDeleteI KNOW!! Seriously, those angsts were the BEST!! You have to read Until You. After everything that went down in Bully, I NEEDED to know why Jared was the way he was, what he was thinking and where his mind and heart were at and Until You gave me all of that. In fact, in Bully, I didn't like him that much and though he needed to show more redemption for all he'd done. We get ALL THAT in Until You. So epically good! Let me know if you check it out and what you thought. AND OMG, I totally forgot In Her Wake came out in September. I just one clicked that and will be reading it soon! Thank you so so much. Good luck in the giveaway ;)
DeleteHaven't read any from your list, but thanks for the recommendations!

DeleteYes, many! Loved Archers Voice - Amazing!
ReplyDeleteIt really was! Good luck Maria!
DeleteI haven't read any of the books on your list, but "Losing Hope" looks particularly interesting to me because I haven't read many good romance novels written from the male character's point of view.
ReplyDeleteLosing Hope is AMAZING!!! Like I said, it's one of the best male POV's I've ever read. I do encourge you to read Hopeless first. Both books are so good and well worth the time. I also really enjoyed Bully and Until You as a his and her POV, which I listed above. Until You is from Jared's POV and was REALLY well done. I love male POV's but sometimes they aren't what I'd hope they'd be. Both of those topped the charts in my opinion. Thanks for stopping by and good luck in the giveaway!
DeleteThank you for this opportunity

DeleteI've read all of the paranormal books listed. I have a copy of 50 Shades of Gray but I haven't read it and I requested the Sylvia Day books from the library a while back, got them, but returned them unread. I just didn't feel like reading them though I've read several of her other books including a PNR trilogy, but I can't recall the name of the series..
ReplyDeleteI think her Dream Guardian series is a PNR but I haven't read those yet. They are on my list though ;) I can only imagine how good they are since she did so well with the Crossfire series. I love spicy PNR. Thanks for stopping by and commenting Anne!
