Trace Rooks has fallen irrevocably in love with the son of her family's sworn rival, and she knows in her bones nothing can tear them apart. Until Nix suddenly pushes her away and into the arms of his best friend... But Trace isn't ready to give up on a future with Nix--and if he won't fight for them, she will.

The Review:

Take me now! I absolutely LOVED this read!

This book was very different than the first in the series. First off, it was from both male leads POV, Nixon and Chase, which I totally loved! With all the drama that was carried out, I think the author made a wise choice writing from their alternating POV’s. Reading in their voice, hearing their frustrations and thoughts and feelings would have been worth it even if the story wasn’t good. But the story itself was wonderful! In the first book, I was confused half the time about “why” everything was happening and I questioned the story, character motives and wondered at all the plot holes, yet I strangely couldn’t put it down. In this book? I couldn't put it down for an entirely different reason. It was thrilling, sexy, smart, frustrating, heartbreaking, emotional and so much fun as we watched Nixon and Chase rule their organization, snuff out traitors and rats and fall all over themselves for the same girl.

Quote Spotlight...
“... romance isn’t something you work at - not when you find the right girl. When you fall in love, when you take that leap, it’s as natural as breathing; it’s as simple as that. I’m romantic because my heart demands I be nothing less than one hundred percent, for you, day and night.”

Nixon and Chase both broke my heart with how much they loved and were willing to sacrifice for Trace. She was the center of both their worlds and along with trying to win her heart, both their worlds were turned upside down with family secrets, hidden agendas and other peoples advances to take what was theirs. We saw an entirely different side to both of them than we did in book one. They were so well developed in this story that I literally couldn’t picked who I wanted Trace to end up with. I was torn, just as these characters were.

Along with an excellent written love triangle, there was mystery, action and just an amazing story to suck you right in and keep you reading. The characters were fun and tragic all at the same time and you knew that no matter how the story ended, someone was going to be left out in the cold that didn’t deserve to be there.

The Wrap Up:
I loved this book! Even with the crazy, wild ride in book one, I loved it. But this book just stepped up the whole game with wonderful writing, terrific characters and a solid, thrilling story. I can’t wait for book three, Entice (Eagle Elite #3) and see how this family continues after all the reveals in this book.
