Whats my favorite kind of read? THIS KIND! One where you have two tragic characters who are surviving day by day but not really living... until they ultimately cross paths and sparks explode, steam covers the mirrors and fanning myself becomes a necessity! Yes, I love steamy, romantic, somewhat heavy but in a light way reads that steal my heart and give me butterflies.

Story...
Elle is twenty-five and is a Junior Associate at a small law firm she’s been with since she interned for them straight out of college. Her life is safe, its predictable and its boring. When her perfectly handsome, perfectly groomed, perfectly nice, perfectly boring boyfriend brings in a client for her to assist with, she’s stunned at the instant reaction she has to the extremely buff, sexy, tattooed man with the intense green eyes who stands before her and what he does to a part of her she thought long dead. They are complete opposites in every way.
Except one.
Nicholas (Nico) Hunter wants out of a contract that seems ironclad. He only sponsors causes he believes in and this one involves things he doesn’t want his already soiled name associated with. Before walking into Elle’s law office, he was existing but not living. A year ago he went from top of his game to bottom of the barrel after tragedy struck and he’s been trying to climb his way out ever since. Characters...
Nico aka “The Lady Killer” is a hot alpha male who’s dangerously addictive. He’s a MMA Fighter who kicks ass in the cage, beds and dominates you like a champion and then tops it off by being a master chief in the kitchen. The fact he can dirty talk you into an instant orgasm is just icing! He’s kind, has solid morals, loves kids and his family and isn’t afraid to tell you or show you how he feels. Am I'm in love? Hell yes! Do I want Nico for my very own? Fuck yeah! Needless to say, I'm a huge fan! He was the perfect hero who wasn’t perfect. He was emotionally damaged after a tragic fight takes the life of his opponent and he’s been shut down for over a year.
I loved that he didn’t just blow this off as a sporting tragedy, even after learning his opponent had a medical condition that ultimately caused his death. It affected him, showing how human and vulnerable this gorgeous, tough, superman was.
Elle has her own tragic past that haunts her. Abuse, loss and pain are very real things for Elle. She’s drowning in guilt and horrors that keep her from truly connecting or opening up. She’s tough, challenging, independent, smart and sexy. And she’s probably the only one who can understand Nico, empathize with him and get through to him.
These two character were asleep, unresponsive and spiritless after their tragedies but together, they lifted the other one up, opening them up and life was renewed. Love blossomed and smiles, laughter and love bloomed.
The Wrap Up:
I loved this read! It was filled with everything I want in a great romance. The writing was outstanding! Its told in alternating POV’s and I loved the relationship and interaction between the two leads. It wasn’t always easy. Their past kept haunting them. But their chemistry exploded throughout the book. The tragic hero was sexy and bold and steamed up the paged in each scene. The impressive heroine was brave and fun and fought for her man. The sex was spicy and yay.. it totally brought the butterflies. And their romance was beautiful and exquisite.
And best of all, it was a stand alone with no cliffy and an epic epilogue that wrapped everything up in a nice HEA bow.
This is my first Vi Keeland book but consider me a fan! I can't wait to read more by this author!
