Traveling thousands of miles from home to enter college is the only way nineteen-year-old Avery Morgansten can escape what happened at the Halloween party five years ago—an event that forever changed her life. All she needs to do is make it to her classes on time, make sure the bracelet on her left wrist stays in place, not draw any attention to herself, and maybe—please God—make a few friends, because surely that would be a nice change of pace. The one thing she didn’t need and never planned on was capturing the attention of the one guy who could shatter the precarious future she’s building for herself.
Some things are worth experiencing…
Cameron Hamilton is six feet and three inches of swoon-worthy hotness, complete with a pair of striking blue eyes and a remarkable ability to make her want things she believed were irrevocably stolen from her. She knows she needs to stay away from him, but Cam is freaking everywhere, with his charm, his witty banter, and that damn dimple that’s just so… so lickable. Getting involved with him is dangerous, but when ignoring the simmering tension that sparks whenever they are around each other becomes impossible, he brings out a side of her she never knew existed.
Some things should never be kept quiet…
But when Avery starts receiving threatening emails and phone calls forcing her to face a past she wants silenced, she’s has no other choice but to acknowledge that someone is refusing to allow her to let go of that night when everything changed. When the devastating truth comes out, will she resurface this time with one less scar? And can Cam be there to help her or will he be dragged down with her?
And some things are worth fighting for…
Genre - New Adult/Contemporary Romance
Sweet, Sexy and Brilliant!
The Review:
This is one of the sweetest, most enchanting romance’s I’ve ever read. I absolutely loved this book!
Her life used to be full. Her life used to be fun. Her life used to have friends, she used to dance, she used to love. She used to LIVE.
But then…
Story…
For the past five years, Avery Morgansten has been alone, holding secret a traumatic past. After one horrific night when she was fourteen she’s forced into solitude after her parents, her friends, the whole town turns against her. She was trapped in scandal, secrets and despair with no outlet or way of coping. When it’s time for her to go to college, she picks the most distant college available to her in an attempt to escape her past and her neglectful, affluent parents.
One her first day, she becomes friends with Jacob and soon after, Brit. She has friends now which is something she hadbefore. She’s slowly, little by little, getting her life back. Friends, good grades and a place of her own are just a few of the things she wants but what she didn’t expect was the handsome, charismatic Cameron Hamilton who she literally crashes into.
Quote Spotlight…
“You’ve been checking me out, haven’t you? In-between your flaming insults? I feel like man candy.” – Cam
When a class project throws them together, what starts out as an instant attraction turns into a wonderfully sweet friendship that turns into a powerful, beautiful and tender romance.
Quote Spotlight…
The press of his lips the second time consumed me, awakened me. His mouth was all I could think about, all I wanted to think about. – Avery
Cam can tell something horrible happened to Avery but he won’t let her constant “No” or her obvious skittishness keep him from her because he just can’t stay away. Cam’s patience and perseverance is the sweetest thing ever. He’s lovable, funny, kind, outgoing and patient. Avery needs all these things in a guy who’s willing to wait. And Cam most definitely is willing to wait.
Their friendship is a wonderful, delightful journey of two people finding themselves and finding each other. Their magnetic and captivating romance is entrancing and fascinating. And even though we get our HEA, I didn’t want Avery and Cam’s story to end. I wanted this story to go on and on forever.
Quote Spotlight…
“Fuck, Avery. You think I don’t want you?” His voice came out low, almost a growl. “There’s not a single part of you that I don’t want, you understand? I want to be on you, and inside of you. I want you against the wall, on the couch, in your bed, in my bed, and every fucking place I can possibly think of, and trust me, I have a vast imagination when it comes to these kinds of things. Don’t ever doubt that I want you. That is not what this is about.” - Cam
The Wrap Up:
The gentle and caring tone of this story will stick with me and it will be a long time before I let these characters go. This is my second book by author J. Lynn but it absolutely will not be my last. She has a talent for writing sweet and romantic scenes that will swoon your heart and leaving you wanting more more more! Sign me up for book two in this series because I don’t care which characters it’s about, I’m totally in!
