Walking Disaster (Beautiful #2) by Jamie McGuire Review:

Goodreads Book Blurb:
Walking Disaster is Travis' POV.

How much is too much to love?

Travis Maddox learned two things from his mother before she died: Love hard. Fight harder.

In Walking Disaster, the life of Travis is full of fast women, underground gambling, and violence. Just when he thought he was invincible, Abby Abernathy brings him to his knees.

Every story has two sides. In Jamie McGuire's New York Times bestseller Beautiful Disaster Abby had her say. Now it's time to see the story through Travis's eyes.

5 Insanely Huge, Beautiful Stars!
Hang On To Your Seats Ladies… Travis Has Something To Say!

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review by Atria Books through NetGalley.

The Rundown:
Walking Disaster is a retelling of the phenomenal best seller, Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire, in lead hero, Travis “Mad Dog” Maddox's POV! This highly anticipated release has been the talk of readers far and wide and I was fortunate enough to get in on the ARC.

Just a note, this book is a companion to Beautiful Disaster, and I highly suggest reading that one first. If not, there could be some confusion as to whats going on.

This book opens with Travis as a young boy sitting by his failing mother’s bedside. Final goodbye are said, promises are made and a life without his beloved mother begins. Skip forward in time to college student Travis as he meets his true love, Abby Abernathy, the second and last woman he will ever love, and this story is told from the male perspective with all its angsty goodness!

The Review:
I screamed and whooped, doing a totally embarrassing fist pump in the air when I got my ARC of Walking Disaster. Having completely fell in love with Travis in Beautiful Disaster, I have been waiting since the moment it was announced there would be a Travis POV, to get my hands on this little gem! And let me say right now, I was NOT disappointed! This book was everything I could have hoped for and more.

As for the book itself, I can’t help but be a total fangirl and swoon!
Perfect! Brilliant! Mesmerizing and So Much Fun!

On the surface, Travis is a hot headed man-whore with a volatile personality. He’s never cared much about what people thought of him and he’s content to live life how he wants too without much thought of how it affects others. This is what you saw when you looked at him. Then he meets Abby and everything changes… he changes. We see the charm, the beauty and the kindness he has for the people he cares about. You can’t help but love him. In Walking Disaster we see a vulnerability you never really saw before and it makes you understand and admire his character even more.

We also get to see conversations between Travis and Shep, explaining a lot of Travis’s reasons and actions as well as extra scenes with Travis interacting with his family. I loved watching Travis on his road to self discovery and watching him fall in love for the first time. Though I adored Travis before, I really enjoyed getting a better insight into him as a person as well as his feelings for Abby. And my heart bled for him during his separation with her. It was rough reading it the first time around in BD with Abby’s POV but getting Travis’s side was gut wrenching! The angst was agonizing and torturous! I loved it ;)

There is an Epilogue at the end that is absolutely PERFECT! It closes everything out nicely in a full circle kind of way.

Wish List…
The only complaints I have were, I wish this book included three scenes that were left out. The first being the scene where Abby gets attacked at the fight Travis asked her to go to. We don’t get to see it from his POV, just his feelings after it happened. The second, I wished we could have seen the Valentines Dance from his POV, where he and Shep were pulling guys off the dance floor! I think it would have been hilarious to see him threatening anyone who touched his girl. And third, I wish we could have seen the tattoo scene after their marriage. It was one of my favorites and I would have loved his commentary on the whole event.

The Wrap Up:
I loved this book! I love Travis and Abby’s story and I will forever and always be a Jamie McGuire fan! Read Beautiful Disaster then read Walking Disaster. Both are amazing books and so worth the time and money to be a part of such an inspired and powerful story!
