Burned, Felix Sinclair has all but vowed never to get seriously involved with another woman as long as he lives. After a long day’s work, Felix is looking forward to getting back to his luxury apartment in the city. When he detours onto a road less traveled in order to shave off some travel time, the last thing he expects is to wind up stranded in a roadside ditch in the middle of a downpour–or to fall into the arms of a beautiful woman.
Recently divorced, jobless, friendless and utterly alone, Poppy Montgomery is struggling to convince herself that single life is what she wants–needs. Then a handsome stranger staggers into her life and sparks fly. Riding out the storm together, their instant connection seems like the perfect opportunity to explore a night of passion, but will one night be enough to satisfy their craving for one another?
AUTHOR'S NOTE: Stranded is the first in an interconnected series of erotic romance. Each book can be read as a stand alone, but you will find that each new character has been previously introduced in some way. As an introduction to the series, Stranded is a novella, but rest assured each new addition will be a full length novel worth sinking your teeth into.
Genre - Adult Fiction/Romance/Short Story
3.5 Stars!
Short, Steamy and Sexy!
Stranded (Night Calls, 1) is a Short Story/Novella Romance written by J.C. Valentine. I read this as a R2R with Fifty Shades Support Group at Goodreads. As always, a special thank you to the mods and author for allowing me to participate.
The Review:
This was a terrific little read, about 57 pages, and it surprised me how much I enjoyed it considering I don’t normally go for short stories/novellas unless I’ve been invested in its series because I can never connect with the characters or story. But the author packs a great deal of information into this short read and allows you to connect with the characters and their chemistry with scenes that were steamy and exciting. The idea of a one night stand based on being stranded after a wreck is questionable in real life. I would find it difficult to let in a strange man this day and age even if he was drenched with rain and looked pale. But that’s not the idea of this story. It’s a fantasy and one we could all indulge in even if in its not realistic and for that purpose, I found this to be an incredible read. I loved the writing, I loved the characters and I loved the idea.
My only real qualm was the ending just didn’t satisfy me. It was to abrupt and I think with a page or two more, it could have been much better.
The Wrap Up:
I did enjoy this read so I will definitely be keeping an eye out for future works from this author.
