Hopeless by Colleen Hoover Review:

Goodreads Book Blurb:
Sometimes discovering the truth can leave you more hopeless than believing the lies…

That’s what seventeen-year-old Sky realizes after she meets Dean Holder. A guy with a reputation that rivals her own and an uncanny ability to invoke feelings in her she’s never had before. He terrifies her and captivates her all in the span of just one encounter, and something about the way he makes her feel sparks buried memories from a past that she wishes could just stay buried.

Sky struggles to keep him at a distance knowing he’s nothing but trouble, but Holder insists on learning everything about her. After finally caving to his unwavering pursuit, Sky soon finds that Holder isn’t at all who he’s been claiming to be. When the secrets he’s been keeping are finally revealed, every single facet of Sky’s life will change forever.

The Review:
Could there ever be a more perfect book? Nope, this one has pretty much ruined all others for me. Needless to say I adored and loved Hopeless! I'm gonna completely gush about this book, so be prepared ;)

Story:
Colleen Hoover
does it again! This author has an amazing way of pulling you inside her stories and making you live them, not just read them. This story is three fold. It’s present, past and in between with so much going on that I was completely hooked from the first sentence to the last. And though there were so many things happening, it never wavers in emotion, story or character. The author did a brilliant job with the details, the flashbacks and the timeline. The imagery and emotions the author conjures are sweet, vivid and sometimes shocking. And the ending… OMG! The ending broke me! Anguish, despair, heartsick, sorrow, suffering, traumatic.... amazing, absorbing, beautiful, entrancing, revealing, sweet…choose your synonym! They all equal the best effing story I’ve ever effing read!!

Characters:
Sky’s character completely eviscerated me! Her story was bittersweet. Her present is a despondent and isolated one. Sky has a sketchy past which she remembers little of, but you can tell through her actions, little pieces of memory seep into who she has become and how she acts, the things she does, they all connect at the end. Her character was scarred and disconnected in so many different ways. She was lonely without even realizing it and she was so very real. I loved her

Dean Holder… *swoon*. I can honestly say there were no guys like Dean Holder when I was a teenager. I can’t say too much about him without giving out spoilers but I can say that he is one of the best male YA characters I’ve ever read. His past has some dark spots as well and though he has the misfortune of remembering in vivid detail things he wished he could get past, it comes into play in a very real way when he gets back into town and you can’t help but love everything about him. Every.Thing!

The Wrap Up:
I love Colleen Hoover. I read her books, Slammed and Point of Retreat earlier this year and totally fell in love with her writing style and her amazing way to capture the human spirit between the pages of her books. Her capacity to captivate and totally suck me in is why I became a fan and will continue to be a fan for as long as she wants to grace us with her phenomenal stories. And as much as I love her other works, Hopeless gutted me and I’ll never be fixed. That’s how sensational this book was… and its one I’ll never forget…

NOTE: I always have the best time when I buddy read and this one was no exception. Thank you Juls for being my buddy reader and thanks for the texts and calls and our total gush-fest over who was hotter, Jude Ryder or Dean Holder. I still love them both! ;)
