BOOK BLURB:
When we were younger, Temperance Price was the quiet girl with dreamy eyes who hung on my every word. She was always beautiful, but I had plans to get out of Red Oak and make a life of my own.

Ten years later, a crushing tragedy has brought me home again—right back to her.

The innocent girl I left is gone, and in her place is a sassy single mom I can’t get out of my head. She’s hired me to fix her house, but I have other things in mind.

She thinks I’m just a handyman.
She thinks we’re only friends.
She thinks I’ve never noticed her.

I think what really needs to be fixed is her whole perspective.

3.5/almost 4 “Krice” Stars!
Quirky, fun characters with a lot of heart twined into their story...

The Review:
Fixing Her is a debut novel by Miranda Elaine and is a wonderful read! I was hooked from the first page and stayed strong to the very end. There was a lot going on in this book and the author handled it well, telling a good story with fun, refreshing characters I connected with. It also had some intense and heartwarming moments as well as brought out the “feels”. There were a few issues I had with the book, which I’ll go into in my review below, but overall, a great first novel and an author I can’t wait to see more from in the future.

Story/Characters...
Temperance Price is a twenty-six year old struggling, single mom. Leaving college to take care of her dying mother only to get pregnant at twenty-two from a one night stand wasn’t the direction she thought her life would take, but she loves her daughter fiercely and provides the best life she can.

Her best friend, Leigh, helps her and also pulls her from her seclusion every chance she can, so when Asher Kade, the boy Tempie crushed on all through high school, comes back to town and starts remodeling her parents house, her first call is to Tempie to get herself over there immediately.

But Temperance is a mess and though she’s shed some of her quiet shell, one look at Asher who is even sexier than he was ten years ago, tongue ties her and she’s sure that a man like him could never fall for a girl like her.

Asher Kade is back after ten years of being away. So many things have changed, but so much has stayed to same. Including the quiet girl who always watched him and one he secretly watched as well. Thinking he wouldn’t come back to the little town of Red Oak once he escaped, he never pursued her in high school, but that’s about to change the moment he sees her again.

Only thing is, Tempie has secrets and once they are exposed, it could blow everything apart.

Story/Characters...
I really enjoyed this story. It was well written and had some amazing, heart pounding moments, especially when Asher Kade was on the scene.

Asher was so well written! It’s obvious the author knows how to writes a swoon-worthy hero. His intensity and scene presence gave me those delicious tummy flutters I love so much. He was sexy, sincere and a hero you could totally drool over.

Temperance did a lot of back and forth which I didn't love. Her character was timid around Asher, which when all things are revealed, you kind of understand why. I enjoyed their interactions but I thought there was enough drama without the secrecy. I also enjoyed her mommy/daughter time. I'm a sucker for single mom stories. I loved the best friend too. All of us have that one bff who pushes us past our comfort zone. Or at least we should. Leigh was written well and was fun to read.

My biggest issue with this novel is the overused plot I saw coming from the very beginning. I’ve read this type of story a hundred times. However, the execution was fantastic! There were a handful of moments when the writing could have used a little polish though. Don’t get me wrong, the author has a great writing style and a strong voice that sucked me in even though I knew what was coming, but there were a couple of times I saw room for improvement. With that said, I couldn’t put it down, wanting to know how it all played out and how it was going to end.

The Wrap Up:
Overall, this was a great debut novel. Quirky, fun characters with a lot of heart twined into their story, this was a read worth reading. And a new author I’ve definitely added to my buy-now list.
