BOOK BLURB:
The beginning of any love story starts with the meet.

I’ve known Garrett Hollis since before I can remember, and I’ve loved him just as long.  I loved him while he loved someone else.  I loved him when he had a baby with her.  I loved him when she left him.

The greatest of love stories is that between a dad and his daughter.  I should know.  I’ve had a front row seat.  First steps, first words, all the big moments.

Garrett was just a teenager when Mia was born.  I’ve watched him braid his daughter’s hair, hold her hand crossing the street, seen her asleep on his chest.  I’m the best friend, the one they can count on for everything from dance lessons to motherly advice, anything they need.  I’m their go-to girl.

The best part of any love story is the happily ever after.

But what if the happily ever after doesn’t include you?

All my life, that’s how long I’ve loved him.

Of course, he’s clueless.

A stand-alone, contemporary romance.

The Review:
I LOVED this book!

This is the kind of romance I love. One that hits every one of my feels and one I felt all the way to my heart and soul. It’s got all my favorite tropes. Second chance romance. Friends to lovers. Childhood friends. And hot sexy-times.

Garrett and Devlyn just worked and their chemistry and the slow build to romance was swoon-worthy, fun and filled with emotions and fantastic writing that captured their amazing story in all the right ways.

This book has been put in my re-read pile, in my favorites pile, and in my must-read pile. I’ll be suggesting it to all my friend.

Story/Characters...
Garrett Hollis was sixteen when he became a single father. Now he’s thirty-four and watching his teenage daughter Mia, graduate from high-school. He lives in Eden Valley, the same picturesque small town he grew up in. Having forsaken a potential athletic career and the dream of being an architect to properly raise his daughter, he has no regrets. He’s a great man. He’s a fantastic father. In between changing diapers, learning to braid hair and cleaning up puke, he’s had no time for a social life and his daughter is determined to change that before she heads off to college, which gives some hilarious and sometimes ridiculous dating situations.

Devlyn Drake is Biscuit Girl. She’s lived in Eden Valley all her life, too. And she’s Garrett’s best friend. She’s also been secretly in love with him since she was five years old. The moment she found out he was going to be a parent with the girl who stole him from her, she was devastated. But the day he brought Mia home alone, she vowed to always be there for him and Mia. Now having to watch the love of her life date other women, she’s torn between keeping her vow and moving on to find some kind of happiness of her own.

These two... Gah! I loved them from the start. Garrett was oblivious until he wasn’t. Devlyn was devoted, always. It might have taken Garrett a long time to catch on, but once he did, their chemistry was explosive. In the meantime, Devlyn’s unrequited love was heartwrenching to read. There were a couple of times her devastation broke my heart and brought tears to my eyes. The author did a perfect job of capturing all those feels and delivering them to the reader.

This story is written in dual POV’s between Garrett and Devlyn. There are also Letters To Mia, from her absent mom, which comes into play later. There are flashbacks showcasing life before Mia and life after Mia. You can’t help but feel for Devlyn as she stands on the outskirts of Garrett and Mia’s life. A part of it, but not. It’s heartbreaking and lovely all at the same time.

I can’t say enough about this read. It was just amazing from start to finish. I loved Garrett. He was a strong character who had morals and values and passed them on to his daughter Mia. Mia was fun and excited for life. She was a good girl and when life comes crashing down around her, she acted the way a normal teenager would. Devlyn was unique, charismatic, selfless and optimistic, even though her love life had such disappointments. She was always willing to do what was best... even at her own detriment.

The author did a phenomenal job writing all the character in this book! I just can’t say enough about that. I fell in love with the town, with the history, with the story and definitely with the characters!

The Wrap Up:
All My Life is filled with angst, heartbreak and a boatload of feels, not to mention sharp, witty dialogue and fun, enjoyable banter, giving this story deep, satisfying layers. I enjoy this authors books, but I have to say, this is my favorite Prescott Lane book to date! I couldn’t put it down!

3.5 Stars!

The Review:
This story had an interesting take and kept me turning the pages as Carter and Kinley’s story played out. Though I had some issues with the writing and some of the story/character moments, I enjoyed it for the most part. It was thought-provoking, sweet, emotional at times and delved into some tough, real-life issue.

I liked it.

Story/Characters...
Carter decided to leave this world ... only fate had other plans.

Kinley decided long ago she needed to help people - help them in the way she wished people had helped her when tragedy struck.

Carter was born with a silver spoon in a family that expects too much. Kinley is the night nurse who is tasked with watching over him and when Carter enters Kinley’s world, she feels a need to help him and his family.

This book has some incredible “thinking” moments, some beautiful life lessons and a realistic view of imperfection as Carter recovers from his “mistake”. I really enjoyed the story itself as well as Carter's journey. It was heartfelt and heartwarming. There was also some great dialogue and controversial issues that dug deep. It was a great story with lively, likable characters and I was kept interested all the way through.

For some of the story, Carter is in a position where he can only listen. His character starts off in a major depression where he can only see the world through his eyes. He thinks everyone would be better off without him, but as time passes and honest conversations are said, his mindset starts to shift. It’s slow (in a good way) and revealing. Carter showed you can learn a lot if you just listen. I loved the progression and change in his character, from only thinking of himself and his value in life to seeing himself and the world through other peoples perspectives because he truly heard them. It was a great character moment for him and the author did a great job with it. I enjoyed how Carter was devoted to turning his life around and finding himself. He started out trying to find Kinley and in the end, found who he was, his place in the world and happiness all at the same time.

What didn’t work for me was the flow of the story and the lack of romance. It felt stalled in some places, like some of the scenes were forced. Though I connected with Carter and Kinley as individuals, I didn’t get a lot from them as a couple. I wanted more romance because even though Carter was falling in love with Kinley’s words and though she might have been falling in love with him while he was sleeping, there weren’t enough get-to-know-you-moments for me to invest in them as a couple. Also, the story got a little preachy in some places. It wasn’t too over the top, but there were moments I felt like things were overstated. I also thought Carter's complete turn around was a bit abrupt. I both loved the way it happened and thought it was a bit unrealistic, but regardless, that’s a small thing in comparison to the rest of the story.

The Wrap Up:
My take away - This was a good story with interesting insights into imperfection and how life is what you make it. Forget all the window dressing and find your happy - in whatever form it might take.

- Craves the Angst

AUTHOR: Nazarea Andrews
AGE GROUP: Adult

PUBLISHER: Nazarea Andrews
PAGES: Approx. 163

BOOK BLURB:
Calvin Landers is a mess.
He has a great job and a steady string of men and women in his bed, and has been in love with the same couple for so long he can't remember a time when he wasn't. Coming off fresh heartbreak, he's ready to move on, to give up on romance and sex altogether and moves in with his best friend, Davis, while he looks for something more permanent and tries to figure out what the hell he's doing with his life.

Ava Liu isn't looking for anything more than something to distract her from the book she's supposed to be translating. Something to distract her from why the hell she's in River City in the first place. But the boys who share a fence are more than a little distracting and pushy, when they realize just how much Ava needs someone--and how much they all need each other.

Sometimes life happens just when you stop looking.

REVIEWER'S NOTE: I received an eARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

2 Stars!

The Review:
This was a short and fun read, that was told in all three POV’s, which I liked. But the book itself could have been better. I didn’t connect with the characters like I wanted to. In fact, I didn’t really understand their connection to one another. I also thought the story was choppy and disjointed and I felt I needed to have read the other books in the series to know who all these characters were because I didn't understand their place or role in the worldbuilding or their connection to the mains.

Overall, I thought the read was okay, but it wasn’t what I was hoping for.

Story/Characters...
After being dumped by his partners from their threesome relationship, Cal is ready for a change.

Davis is Cal’s best friend from his college years ... and he’s been secretly in love with him since the day Cal stumbled into his dorm room. In need of a change himself, he runs from his problems in New York to room once again with his longtime friend in the hopes to help him heal from his broken heart.

Deciding change is good, they rent a new house on a new street ... and right across the road is the reclusive Ava, whose life is restricted by the four walls in which she lives.

Together, they find a new life and new beginnings, but unhealed wounds surface and threaten their happy threesome and they have to decide if it’s worth pursuing a relationship where so much can go wrong.

I liked the idea of this book. I love M/F/M books. I think the dynamics in such a relationship are fun and interesting to read, not to mention can be sexy and super hot if written well. In my opinion, this wasn’t that kind of read. I didn’t feel there was enough time spent on the main characters to really get a grasp on them. Too much time was spent on outside relationships I didn’t understand or connect with because I hadn’t read the previous books in the series.

I wanted more get-to-know-you moments between Cal, Davis, and Ava. It was their relationship that was supposed to be the focus of this book, but we got a lot of outside focus on Cal’s last relationship and some weird interactions with Davis’s stalker that didn’t really amount to much at all. And I felt there was more to Ava’s agoraphobia than was talked about in the book, as there seemed to be a couple of instances where Davis learned something about her online, but we never got what that something was. I didn’t understand where her phobia stemmed from other than some vague references to her being scared of the outside world after a couple of incidents involving her parents and her BFF that didn’t even include her in the traumatic events. There were also a couple of times her character was annoying and indignant, not to mention, she’s a shut-in and scared of the outside world but get her on the phone or in the bedroom and she suddenly becomes a bold sex goddess? It didn’t ring true, and I just didn’t connect with Ava at all.

Cal was a firefighter and that seemed to be important for the book as the author made reference to it a lot, but we never really saw anything come from his job and the “stresses” of it. Nor did we get much insight or conflict from the references to his father being abusive and leaving him scarred, other than the reader being told of those events. Davis was a big-wig CEO of a multibillion-dollar company but he could do all his work from home on the internet, in a different state. Really? Ava’s job was the only one that made sense as she was an online translator which worked well for her shut-in status. Putting their jobs aside, I didn’t feel any connection or chemistry between these three at all and the bedroom scenes fell super flat for me. Of course, that might have been due to some of the author's word choices when she was describing their sounds during the sex. Such as “wail”, “scream”, “writhes”, “needy whine”, just to name a few. Those words conjured up images of a screaming banshee, not a sexy threesome.

I realize it’s a short story, but it didn’t have any substance and very little excitement and the climax to the story felt rushed and underdone. And I have to mention each character's voice. They all sounded the same. If their name wasn’t at the beginning of each chapter, I wouldn’t have known who was speaking. They all talked exactly the same.

The Wrap Up:
I enjoy menage stories. There’s something fascinating about them and if done right, they can be spicy and fun with interesting characters I get invested in. They can hit all the right spots for an entertaining, sexy romance. Sadly, this one didn’t hit all the right spots for me.

NEW REVIEW! FAUX PAS by Natasha Madison is Now Available:

"... this one just wasn’t for me." - Craves the Angst

TITLE: FAUX PAS

BOOK BLURB:
Meghan
Five days in Paris sounded like a great idea for three friends. Especially when amazing wine was in play.

It didn't matter that our rented “apartment” only had one bed, and barely enough space to breathe. We were in Paris and our motto was c'est la vie.

Nothing would faze us, not even the rude waiter at the first restaurant we went to, or the insanely hot manager who was insulted when a bottle of wine was returned.

Nothing could bring me down or knock me off my path to the best vacation of my life.

Alex
I had six days in Paris and then I'd go back to my wine vineyard. It was smooth sailing until three "Americans" came into the restaurant and returned my newest full-bodied, savory creation.

I ignored her until she stormed out of the restaurant looking for a taxi at one in the morning.  I couldn't leave her wandering around the streets of Paris, could I?

I’d give her a ride, make sure she was safe, and my duty would be done. Except, was it?

Something about her pulled me.

This could be a vacation fling. After all, there is no real reason for her to know my interesting secret.

I'm France’s most eligible bachelor.

This faux pair is almost a faux pas...

REVIEWER'S NOTE: I received an eARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

1 Star!

The Review:
This was a DNF for me. The writing felt stiff and forced in places and the overuse of French in the dialogue followed directly by the English translation became a bit annoying after the first couple of times. I had to skip and skim through those parts and I felt like I was missing out on part of the read. It also pulled me from the story too many time.

The story itself dragged on in the beginning and I had a hard time getting invested. It starts out with three friends on a plane to their vacation destination in Paris, but I didn’t love the dialogue or the attempt at playful banter between them. I also didn’t really connect with any of the characters, including the lead, Meghan. I think she was supposed to be written as edgy, spirited and fun but for me, she came off as irritable, judgmental and a bit of a whiner. I found no spark between her and Alex and finally after a little over halfway through, I had to call it quits.

I like this authors stories. But this one just wasn’t for me.
