RATING: 4 Stars!
CLIFFHANGER: Yes!

BOOK BLURB:
I thought things couldn't get worse. I was wrong.

I found out what I really wanted and was forced to give him up. Just as I found out who I really am, I was presented to the elusive Horde King as a gift.

This was the mystical being I was hidden from for more than twenty years.
Although Ryder promised to save me, I couldn't let him get near this creature, so I willingly (sort of) signed myself over to be his new plaything.

Now in the Horde Realm, nothing is going remotely like I thought it would.
My powers and emotions are on the fritz, and each day seems to bring surprises that I am not sure how to deal with.

The Horde King thinks he has me exactly where he wants me.
He thinks he has taken all of my options away.
I still have choices.
Embracing what destiny has planned for me, or escaping it.

4 Smokin’ Hot Horde King Stars!

The Review:
Escaping Destiny was pretty darn awesome! The beginning felt a little slower than the first two, but overall, this book wow’ed me and consumed me. I couldn’t put it down!

When we left off in book 2, Synthia had returned to her people amongst the Blood Fae, but not for long, as she’s given to the Horde King, in accordance with a contract her father and mother were forced to sign years ago, a contract which they desperately, but ultimately failed, to try and hide her from. So now, the Horde King has taken off with Synthia as his “gift” and Syn has no choice but to submit after seeing just how powerful he is and how futile it would be to fight him.

There are plenty of surprises in this book, along with an excellent and fascinating story. We also get a wonderful and exciting look at Faery as the world building continues. Syn and the Horde King are super hot together! WOWZA! He is INTENSE as he refuses to let Syn go and Syn refuses to be just another broken toy hanging out in the pavilion, with the rest of the concubines. They light up the pages with their passion, their stubbornness and their defiance to give into the other's demands.

A little slower... but...
Syn really shows us a different side in this book. I loved her continued fire, her fearlessness and her unwillingness to settle. But I also missed the Syn from books one and two. She’s confused, she’s hurt and she’s uncertain and the author does a great job of showing that. However, for the first 45% of this book, it felt slower than the other books. Don’t get me wrong, she was only down for a short while, and this book was still absolutely wonderful, but Syn was in a position where she can’t be who she used to be. She can’t be the Enforcer, and I missed her being a strong, capable badass and leader. I understood her situation and the limits she had, and I wasn’t certain I was going to love the direction the story took. I missed the explosions, the mystery, the adventure, the fear and the uncertainty of what their enemies were up to and I missed Syn showing off her fighting skills and her powers as she fought those enemies, going head first into battle without hesitancy. It wasn’t until over halfway through the book and more towards the end that the action picked back up, things became more clear and I understood why the author chose to go that route. And them I was totally on board!

Syn really battles to find her place in her new world and I loved watching her bold and brave personality struggle past the insecurities her surroundings caused. Ryder is sexy personified and dominate to the core. He walks into a scene and commands it. I can’t get enough of him!

Oh, and let’s not forget to talk about the EXPLOSIVE chemistry going on in this book. With seductive and hedonistic bedroom scenes, this book was an erotic frenzy that steamed up my ereader. It was HOT!

The sub characters have become some of my favorite. I just love Ristan so much. I missed Adam, Alden, Adrain and Vlad as they took a backseat in this book, but I’ve read they make a pretty significant return in the next, so I’m excited to see more of them.

So much was explained in this installment and the book really started pulling the whole series together, with fascinating world building, amazing character development you can totally connect with, irresistible sub characters you couldn’t help but love, and a story that spellbinds and captivates.

And as before, we leave off with a huge cliffy, so I’m on to the next book asap!
