4 Amazing Stars!
Thrilling and Addictive! I couldn’t put this one down!

The Review:
The moment I read that first sentence on the first page, I was hooked. Jennifer L. Armentrout takes us on a riveting, unsettling and sometimes scary journey as she tells the story of Sasha Keeton, victim and ultimate survivor of serial killer, The Groom. I connected with Sasha immediately and found myself completely immersed in her story of struggle, reconnection and learning to live again. She gets many second chances in this book and I was cheering her on the whole way.

Amazing read that I know I’ll read time and again!

Story/Characters...
Sasha Keeton is now twenty nine, but ten years ago, she was the latest victim in a string of grisly murders by a man the press dubbed The Groom. Tortured, beaten and raped, she was convinced she would die ... until she didn’t. After those horrific events, she ran away from the small town she grew up in, away from the gossip, away from the stares, away from her college courses, away from her friends and away from the only boy she ever loved.

Now she’s back to help her mom with the inn she always dreamed of running. But the moment she shows up in town, women start dying again and it seems the killer has his sights set on Sasha.

First, let me say, with shocking scenery and amazing writing, this story gripped me and held tight to the exciting end. It also troubled me and in certain areas and it creeped me out in others ... but definitely in a good way! It made me think about what I would do in similar situations and I loved that Sasha fought and survived. She was emotionally scarred by past events and her life after her survival wasn’t easy. She had a tremendous amount of fear, but what I loved about her character was she was so strong and she tackled all those obstacles and decided that even though she was a victim, she didn’t have to let it rule her life and she didn’t have to submit to it.

Cole Landis, the boy who Sasha left behind, is now a full fledged man and holy-moly, was he smokin’ hot! I loved Cole’s character. The moment these two reconnect, things sizzled. That first meet, after so long apart ... wow! The author takes us into that scene and I swear, I could feel all those emotions passing between them with just their smoldering looks and the quiet tension between them. Cole decided that this time around, he wasn’t going to let Sasha go and he was going to protect the woman he loved. His conviction was sexy and he was a great hero, but I also loved that the author let Sasha be her own hero.

I have to say, I suspected who the killer was the moment he was introduced. It was kind of a given, but it didn’t take away from the thrills and chills of the story and it didn’t take away from the guessing and excitement of it all.

The Wrap Up:
I loved this read. It was exciting, sexy, romantic and intriguing. The only reason I didn’t give it a full five stars is because there were a couple of obvious plot holes and though I LOVED the ending, I was also left wondering “why”. It was never really spelled out why the killer did the things he did, other than he was just evil, born from evil. Maybe that was the point? Either way, I both liked and dislike not having that ultimate answer. Regardless, this read was amazing and I know I’ll enjoy it time and again.
