Their wishes were simple and modest. Fate had other things in store though, and she can be a real bitch sometimes.

All he wanted was to get the job done and somehow to endure those long months playing nanny to a spoiled little rich girl. Without strangling her with his bare hands in the process. Well, it is going to be much easier said than done.

All she wanted was to escape the past and live like any other girl. Her plan definitely didn’t include the arrogant, tattooed savage, with his awful mohawk and lack of social graces, whose only mission was to stick real close and mess up her life.

But, people aren’t always what they seem to be, are they?

GUEST POST with ZOYA TESSI
We asked Zoya what were five things she'd never do again. Here's what she had to say...

List (5) things you’ll never do again...

1. A few years back I visited a friend who lives in Paris, and from the moment we met at the airport she insisted on taking me straight to a fancy sushi restaurant. I’m generally not a fan of fish, and I’d never been tempted to eat one raw, so I tried to convince her to drop the idea. In the end, she got the upper hand and we went there for dinner. They put various kinds of sushi in front of us, and I chose a pale orange variety because it was the one that looked most like chicken. It’s lucky that we were seated close to the restrooms, because I almost threw up right there at the table. So it’s safe to say I will never, ever try sushi again.

2. Some friends took me with them when they went skiing while we were at high school, telling me how exciting it would be, and what a great time we’d have. I tried to explain that I’d never skied before, but they said it wasn’t a big deal, and that the moves were the same as in roller skating. So it was that I found myself looking down from the top of the highest slope. I got a two-minute lesson on how skis work, some encouragement in the form of “You’ll see, it’s easy” and then they were gone. I tried to follow and ended up crashing into another guy not five meters from the place where I’d started. Deciding not to risk it further, I took the skis off, sat down, and went all way down the slope on my butt. That’s the only time I’ve been skiing, and definitely the last.

3. Even though it seemed like a good idea at the time, I’ll never use liquid hand soap in the washing machine again. The end result was my own private foam party in the bathroom. Miraculously, the machine survived.

4. I’ll never again chase Mr. Mega-Handsome and Popular. I once spent a month trying to get the phone number of such a guy, and to arrange a date. It ended up being the most boring experience imaginable.

5. I’ll never re-read Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma. I cried so much, and it took weeks to collect myself after finishing it. That story broke me. I think it’s one of the top ten best books I’ve ever read.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR...

Zoya spent years doing volunteering work all across Europe, from cleaning school basements in Northern Russia to excavating Stone Age artifacts in Euskadi (the Basque country) and renovating castles from the middle ages in Southern France. She always dreamed of working with ‘Doctors without borders’ somewhere out in Africa, but ended up doing an ‘ordinary job’ in one of the smaller European countries.

Her greatest passion is devouring each and every book that comes within her reach.
