BOOK BLURB:
When you’ve lived your life as a criminal…
When you’ve done unspeakable things …
When your soul has become dark and stained…

The path to redemption begins where you least expect it.

Kyle Sommerville is in hiding and doesn’t want to be found by anyone. Certainly not by his quirky, free-spirited neighbor who’s managed to push her way past the walls he’s built around him. But Jane Cresson’s indomitable will and insatiable curiosity about her reclusive neighbor makes it impossible for Kyle to stay immersed in his dark world.

Little by little, she claws through his shell.
Day by day, she gets him to smile a little more.
Night by night, they both find pleasure they never knew existed.

When Kyle’s terrible past is exposed, Jane begins to think she’s in over her head. Can her love for this broken man finally clear his path to redemption, or will Kyle’s darkness extinguish every bit of hope she’s put into him?

4 “Undercover” Stars!

The Review:
I enjoyed this quick, sexy romance quite a bit. This was my first book by this author and I didn’t know what to expect. My friends have been touting her brilliance for a while now so I thought this one would be the perfect introduction to a new-to-me author.

Finding Kyle was clever, thrilling and just an all around great read. My friends were right and I’m so glad I picked this one up.

Story/Characters...
Kyle Sommerville is in hiding. Having almost single-handedly brought down the Mayhem Mission MC, whose criminal flavors were drugs, murder and trafficking, Kyle is hiding out in the small town of Misty Harbor, Main, awaiting trial and trying to heal his heart and soul as well as rediscover what living on the right side of the law means. He wants his peace and he wants his solitude. What he doesn’t want is his hot neighbor next door, with her quirky, carefree personality and sexiness all up in his business.

I loved Jane Cresson so much. She was a delightful and refreshing heroine. She was intelligent, strong and sunny, bringing some much needed light into Kyle’s dark world. I fell in love with her quick wit, off-handed movie line quotes to explain life circumstances and her terrible baking talents ... or lack thereof. She was a lot of fun and Kyle was sexy, intense and a little bit broken.

Things quickly heat up between Kyle and Jane when Kyle finally relents to her persistence but he also holds himself back because he’s convinced he’s tainted from all the bad deeds he had to do in order to convince the Mayhem’s he was one of them.

The push-pull between Kyle and Jane was so well done. I’m not usually one who likes a pushy heroine. Sometimes it can come off as annoying instead of caring. But the author did a fabulous job giving Jane just the right amount of tenacity. And the chemistry between Kyle and Jane was off the charts hot!

The Wrap Up:
This book doesn’t get bogged down by Kyle’s mission with the Mayhem’s since it’s more about the relationship between him and Jane, but it does give enough background on what happened to let us know why Kyle is the way he is. I just loved the way this book was set up. And since this was my first read by this author, and though this is a complete standalone, I was excited to see that Kyle makes appearances in some of her other books, giving us more info on him. I’m definitely checking those books and series out. And not just for him. I loved the writing style and I loved the fun and the sexy and the tension. So yeah, more books for me to enjoy!
