Reluctantly agreeing, Ren finds Charlotte is in dire need of self-control and direction. Exclusive Alternate Character POV -Proposal (Jacks)
Smiling, as I kissed the palm of her hand, I had waited for this moment between us for so long. I wanted her to say it. I needed to hear her say yes.
"Ren, you know what I want. Don't you?"
With a confused look in her eyes she questioned, "Then why did you stop kissing me?"
How could I not love this woman?
"I love you."
"I love you too, Jacks,"
I couldn't stop myself from kissing her again, but the moment I did, I knew I needed more from her.
"Marry me."
"Why don't we talk about it in the morning?" she suggested, clearly putting off giving me a definite answer.
"You don't want to get married?"
I watched her tense as she pretended the idea of being married again didn't scare the hell out of her.
"I don't see the importance of it."
Nodding at her, I acknowledged her feelings, but I had already spent too many years being in love with a woman that wasn't mine. There was no way I was going a step further without her agreeing to be my wife. Not because I wanted to own her, I wanted her to own me.
"I know how you feel about it but I don't want anything from you. I love you and I want to give you everything I have. I promised you I would give you all of me and that includes my name."
Nodding back at me, she whispered, "Okay."
It wasn't the 'yes' that I was after, but 'okay' was close enough.
Instantly pulling her into a kiss, I wanted her. I wanted everything she had to give. Ren was never just another girl to me. Even back when sex was the only thing on my mind, it never could have been just sex. Not with Ren. She was my everything, and always had been.
When she pulled away, grabbing the edges of my shirt, whispering, "Come with me," I couldn't help myself.
Sliding my hands into the back of her hair, I kissed her so hard she stumbled a little as she stood up. The second I let go, she turned and headed towards her bedroom. Wrapping my arms around her shoulders, I followed close behind.
The moment we stepped into her room, Ren hesitated.
Leaning down, I gently kissed her, asking, "Are you okay?"
"I keep expecting someone to bust in and stop us."
"Let me go lock your front door, I'll be right back," I said with a laugh, recalling the day my dad walked in on us.
At the time it wasn't funny for my dad to open the door and see Ren in her underwear sitting on my lap. Now that nothing was going to stop us this time, I was able to find humor in the situation.
When I walked back into her room and Ren was sitting on the end of her bed wearing only a bra and panties, I had to mentally talk myself out of leaping across the room onto her. This was supposed to be slow, romantic and she was killing me.
"I wanted to do that part," I shared, hoping she would let me set the pace.
Leaning back slightly, she offered, "I can put my dress back on."
"Don't you dare," I swore, deciding right then and there, I would die if that happened.
Pulling my undershirt off over my head, I couldn't take my eyes off of her. Over the years, I had seen her in her underwear twice before this moment. She was more beautiful than I remembered her being. Her body was a contradiction to itself, just like her. She appeared toned and firm but at the same time she had these soft curves that drew all of my attention. I couldn't wait anymore. As I stepped to her, her eyes shot straight to the wren marked on the left side of my chest. Reaching up, she smiled and placed her hand over my tattoo.
Looking into her eyes, I vowed, "My Wren," knowing she could feel my heart pound, in anticipation, under her hand.
