If I Were You (Inside Out Trilogy #1) by Lisa Renee Jones Review:

Goodreads Book Blurb:
When Sara McMillan finds a stack of journals in a storage unit, she’s shocked and enthralled by the erotic life the writer led. Unable to stop reading, she vicariously lives out dark fantasies through Rebecca, the writer—until the terrifying final entry.

Certain something sinister has happened, Sara sets out to discover the facts, immersing herself in Rebecca’s life. Soon she’s working at the art gallery Rebecca worked at and meeting Rebecca’s friends. Finding herself drawn to two dangerously sexy men, the manager of the gallery and a famed artist, Sara realizes she’s going down the same path Rebecca took. But with the promise of her dark needs being met by a man with confident good looks and a desire for control, she’s not sure anything else matters. Just the burn for more.

Genre - Adult/Erotic/Contemp. Romance/Mystery

5 Deliciously Sinful Stars!
Intense, Suspenseful and Completely Consuming! I LOVED This Read!

The Short Rundown:
Sara McMillan is a high school teacher who’s strayed from her dreams of living in the art world. Because of her shaky past, she let slip the adventurous and questionable life she craved while growing up and ran as far away from her old life as possible. She’s bored but settled and secure. She has very few friends. Ella, who she’s only known a short time is her neighbor and best friend. To make extra cash, Ella buys storage units and sells the life of others to the highest bidder. Handing off one of her units to Sara while she takes an impromptu trip to Paris to marry her short time boyfriend, Sara is intrigued with the journals found within, that tell of a darkly provocative and sexually charged life through the words of the mysterious Rebecca who’s unexplained disappearance causes Sara to immerse herself in Rebecca’s life in an effort to find her and return her things to her. In her quest, she meets new friends and finds love but things are not as they seem and the path she’s set herself on could end in disaster not only for the missing Rebecca but also for her.

The Review:
Seriously? You’re going to leave me hanging like that? Ugg! I hate cliffy’s and this one has just shattered my nerves, lifted the hair on the back of my neck and left me wide eyed and chilled. Thanks to the powers that be, I have book two, Being Me (Inside Out Trilogy #2), as an eARC waiting for me after I write this review, otherwise, I’d be pissed and throwing a fit right now! :p

To say this book was good is an understatement! From the first engrossing, titillating sentence to the last shocking, terrifying word, I was a woman possessed! I read this in one sitting and just couldn't put it down.

It was mysterious and thrilling, it was unnerving and intense and it was sexy as hell and OMG HOT! But I will warn you, by the end, this book poses a ton of questions and answers NOTHING! I’ll say that again. IT. ANSWERS. NOTHING!

Just some of the questions it left me with is, just who is Rebecca? Where is she? Who was her mystery man? Who was the villain, who was the hero? Who is the creepy storage guy? Where is Ella? Who is Mark really? Who is Chris really? Who’s your friend and who’s your foe? SO. MANY. QUESTIONS!! But you know what? I absolutely LOVED every minute of this book in all its steamy, angsty, intensely dark and frustrating ways!

Characters...
Sara was an enigma wrapped in a marshmallow! Though I really liked her character, her morals, independence and her growing insight into herself, she was as wishy-washy as they came. She kept going back and forth in her convictions. She’s goes into the story on a mission and gets easily side tracked by the world she wanted so desperately to be a part of for so long. Also, the reader isn’t really told word for word what her past consisted of, but you get hints along the way that her father and her ex-fiance were domineering and heartless so when she meets Chris and Mark, she decides right up front she won't submit to their controlling nature. But her heart just isn’t in it with Chris.

And who could blame her. Their chemistry is intoxicating, fiery and OFF. THE. CHARTS. HOT!! I too would fall victim to Chris Merit in a flat second! YUM! Tight tees, faded jeans, biker boots and a leather jacket. AND HE’S AN ARTIST! Yowza’s! Chris is mysterious and secretive but he’s also charming, fun and seductively mouthwatering! A bad-ass with a darkened, scarred heart of gold who really cares about Sara? Maybe.... He seems to change right before your eyes but I also get the sense this book isn’t telling us something about not only him, but ALL the characters. I can’t wait to see what happens in book two!

Mark Compton is the art gallery owner and doesn’t play a huge part in this book. But the parts he is in, you can tell he’s just as mysterious and dark as Chris and might even go a bit further as he seems to dominate and scare everyone around him. Not many people like him and his interest in Sara is a bit frightening but he also carries sexy well! He’s another mouthwatering hottie with deep and maybe even twisted secrets. I can't wait to uncover all his secrets!

Other Mentions...
Let me just say the Journal Entries from Rebecca, though describe a growing desperation in a woman who’s been twisted and scorned also provide a spicy, enticing and salacious read. Whatever was going on with this woman and her “Master” might have ended badly, but from reading those entries, the fall must have been some kind of fun! WOW!

The Wrap Up:
Read this book!! NOW! I'm on to book two. That is all! :)
