Across Eternity by Aris Whittier Review:

Goodreads Book Blurb:
Logan Richards is doubly blessed. Not only is he a genius but he has a rare gift, he remembers things and not just from this life but all his lifetimes. He lives a life of wealth and luxury and has never lacked any material possession. There has never been an obstacle his intellect couldn’t overcome. But Logan has a problem: every night he dreams of the same woman, a woman he has dreamt of all his life. He knows she is real and he is determined to find her and convince her she belongs with him, forever.

Amber Lewis, a waitress for a five-star restaurant in Dana Point, California, is overworked and stressed. Her sister’s death has left her weary and wondering if there’s something more to life than mere existence. Then, one evening while working she meets Logan Richards, a chivalrous man who feels deeply familiar.

Fate has brought them together, but will their growing love prove strong enough to resist the forces that could pull them apart?

The Rundown:
What would you do with your life if you knew your time was limited or transmigratory? What would you do if you knew things others didn't? If you could see into the past, know the outcome of the present and have a certainty of the future that was unwavering?

Logan Richards has this insight. From a very young age, he knew he was different because he could feel and see things from lives long past, he could see and feel his other half and he knew without a doubt how things would turn out. He knew searching for his one true soul mate would keep him bound to this place and time and once he found her, he knew his life would be complete.

Amber Lewis has a straightforward life. Though she didn't have the best parental role models growing up, her one constant was her older sister who she took care of until she wasted away to nothing from disease. Now she works two jobs, over extending herself to take care of the heavy medical expenses. She’s going nowhere fast and is stuck in the mundane, not really living, just surviving. Her life is simple, busy yet uneventful. That is until one night when she meets the eyes of a perfect stranger who feels so familiar.

She can tell from the moment she meets him, something is different, a knowing, a connection so intense, she can’t fight the feelings he causes within her or the urge to be with him. She knows he feels it too but she can also tell he’s hiding things. When he finally opens up to her, things are never the same and thats when they both truly begin to live.

The Review:
Though Logan seems to have some special gift, this is not a paranormal story but a romantic story of strong beliefs and love that can span Across Eternity. I really enjoyed this read, the message it delivers and the idea of a perfect love. Can you imagine there is one person who completes you and fulfills you throughout all of eternity and that connection is so strong, you live infinite lifetimes searching out and pairing with that one soul? Soul mates is a hard concept for a lot of people but I could tell from the start, there was more to this couple then merely a love story. Their connection was a bit hard to grasp in the beginning but the reader believes it because Logan believes it so firmly.

This story has a strong theme thats powerful, inspiring, heartbreaking and absolutely beautiful.

The writing and world and character building were very well done. In fact, I'm not a crier but I’ll admit, this story was so poignant, it had me in tears by the end.

Wishlist...
The beginning and end of this read was what pulled it out of a lower star rating. I really enjoyed watching Logan and Amber come together and I loved the ending in all its emotional angsty-ness. However, the middle stalled a bit for me. Not much happened and it seemed to drag a bit as we watched Logan and Amber go through their daily lives with family activities and inconsequential events.

Also, I would have loved if we got further insight as to “why” Logan was special. There’s a twist at the end that could explain it all away but I wanted definitive answers as to why he could see the spirit of who would eventually become Amber, when he was a child and why he retained his memories of her when she couldn’t remember anything. There was an “eternity” of emotional memories, events and passion to pull from but with Amber not remembering and Logan not talking about it, it left a lot of unanswered questions. But at the same time, it left a bit of mystery to the story so both were equal parts good and frustrating.

The Wrap Up:
This was an unconventional and unique story that was sweet, romantic and fun. There were laugh out loud moments, meaningful moments and tear jerking moments. I would totally re-read this one again and definitely suggest it to my friends for a quick but profound read and I'll certainly be checking out other reads by Aris Whittier.

I’ve since learned the inherent value of the day. I now know why you like to watch the sun rise and set. There are unlimited possibilities in between each one.”“Yes, and that goes for all of us, no matter where we live in the world.”

Loving you means no fear. It means forgiving and forgetting. It means understanding and accepting.”

”I love you,” she whispered to him. Logan’s head lifted slowly, a look of surprise on his face. “Unconditionally,” she said softly, as she made her way to him.He stared.“The love we share has no fear. The love I give you is a love that doesn’t ask questions. Its an acceptance.”
